Gordon Smith scored the only goal as Hearts beat Hibernian 1-0 in the Clydesdale Bank U20 League at Newtongrange on Wednesday night.

Smith struck after just four minutes at New Victoria Park as Darren Murray' side leapfrogged their city rivals in the table.

Leaders Dundee United were beaten 3-2 by Hamilton Accies at Gayfield, where late goals from Jordan Moore and Ryan Gauld were not enough for the hosts. Jordan Kirkpatrick's double and an Andy Ryan goal earned Accies the points.

Declan McManus hit a hat-trick in the space of six second-half minutes as Aberdeen beat Motherwell 5-1 at Pittodrie. Cammy Smith bagged a double and Bob McHugh replied.

Inverness CT are up to third spot thanks to a 3-2 home win over St Mirren. George Brislen-Hall scored twice and Gavin Morrison also netted for Caley Thistle. Declan Hughes and Jack Smith were on target for the visitors.

A late Gary Glen goal saw Ross County edge out St Johnstone 1-0 at McDiarmid Park. Goals from Lewis Small and Andy Haworth (2) earned Falkirk a 3-0 victory over bottom club Dundee.
