SPFL newcomers The Spartans shocked Dundee United 1-0 at Ainslie Park with an early Blair Henderson goal while Partick Thistle won a marathon penalty shoot-out 10-9 after a 1-1 draw with Peterhead at Balmoor.

Livingston saw off Highland League Brechin City 3-0 at Glebe Park and Hamilton Accies scored twice late on in a 3-1 victory over Clyde at New Douglas Park.

Simon Murray hit a hat-trick as Ross County thrashed Stranraer 5-1 at Stair Park and Greenock Morton ran out 3-1 winners against Kelty Hearts at New Central Park.

Inverness CT beat Bonnyrigg Rose 2-1 at the Caledonian Stadium while a late double saw Airdrieonians defeat Dumbarton 2-0 at the Excelsior Stadium.
Group F
Kilmarnock were 3-0 winners against Annan Athletic at Rugby Park while Raith Rovers and Dunfermline Athletic drew 1-1 at Stark's Park, with the Pars winning the shoot-out.

Motherwell proved too strong for Elgin City at Borough Briggs, winning 2-0, while East Fife picked up the bonus point on penalties following a 0-0 draw with Queen's Park at Bayview.

Montrose sprung a surprise by defeating group favourites St Mirren 1-0 at Links Park and it was also 1-0 for Forfar Athletic against Cowdenbeath at Station Park.
