3 – Kilmarnock defeated Heart of Midlothian 3-0 at Rugby Park on Saturday to close the gap on Aberdeen and Motherwell in the race for third place in the Ladbrokes Premiership. Angelo Alessio’s side secured their victory within 16 minutes, courtesy of a Chris Burke double and a goal from Eamonn Brophy. It was the first time Killie had scored three times in the first half in eight years – the last time was a 3-3 draw with Celtic at Rugby Park in October 2011. Kilmarnock are now unbeaten in seven home Premiership matches and have kept clean sheets in five.

The Hibees climbed back into the top six and are now unbeaten in seven league matches, although the first five were all draws. Hibs maintained their excellent home record against Motherwell – they are unbeaten in their last six matches at Easter Road, including wins in each of the last four.

12 – Inverness Caledonian Thistle climbed back up to third place in the Ladbrokes Championship thanks to a 1-0 win over Dundee at the Caledonian Stadium. The victory maintained the Caley Jags’ amazing record of never having lost a home league match to the Dens Park club. Dundee did win there in a Scottish Cup replay but have never done so in the league. Their first meeting came in the SPL at Pittodrie in October 2004 – ICT have won seven and drawn five of their 12 home league games against the Dark Blues.

1 – Stranraer pulled off a Scottish Cup surprise by defeating Dunfermline Athletic 1-0 at Stair Park on Saturday. The Ladbrokes League 1 side shocked their Championship opponents thanks to a James Hilton penalty, to set up a round-four trip to Ibrox. It was the Blues’ first Scottish Cup victory over a team in the top two divisions since they defeated Falkirk 2-1 at Stair Park in 1993/94.

4 – Queen’s Park moved into round four of the Scottish Cup thanks to a shock 2-1 victory over Ladbrokes Championship side Queen of the South at Palmerston. Mark Roberts’ side are one of just two Ladbrokes League 2 teams to make it through to this stage – the other being Edinburgh City. The Spiders also won at Palmerston in their only previous Scottish Cup meeting with the Doonhamers – a 4-2 victory back in January 1996.
