0 – Rangers maintained top spot in the Scottish Premiership thanks to a 2-0 victory over Kilmarnock at Ibrox. Kemar Roofe marked his first start for the Light Blues with his first goal for the club and Ryan Kent rounded off the victory with his third goal of the season. Steven Gerrard’s side have still not conceded in the league – their run of five clean sheets equals their club record start to the season. The only other time Rangers managed this was back in 1929/30 under the management of Bill Struth.
13 – Hibernian left it late to defeat St Johnstone 1-0 at McDiarmid Park and stay level on points with Rangers at the top of the table. Jack Ross’ side have picked up 13 points from their opening five matches – the last time Hibs managed this in a top-flight season was in 2000/01, when Alex McLeish’s men went on to finish in third place. The Hibees are now unbeaten in their last six visits to Perth and have won on each of their last three – their last defeat at McDiarmid Park was back in March 2014.
14 – Celtic defeated Dundee United 1-0 at Tannadice to leapfrog their opponents into fourth place in the Scottish Premiership table. Albian Ajeti came off the bench to score his first goal for the club and ensure they remain six points behind Rangers and Hibernian with two games in hand. Saturday’s success extended the Hoops’ unbeaten away run to 14 matches in all competitions – they have earned 11 wins and three draws on the road since losing 2-0 to CFR Cluj in the Europa League group stage in December. Celtic have now recorded eight consecutive wins over United in all competitions, a run which started with the 2015 League Cup final.
1 – Hamilton Academical claimed their first three points of the season with a 1-0 victory over rivals Motherwell at Fir Park. Accies have won on three of their last four visits and have lost just one of their last five matches against the Steelmen at either venue. Brian Rice’s side have only won five away matches in all competitions since the start of last season, and four of them have come against fellow Lanarkshire clubs – two against Motherwell, one against Clyde (at Ochilview) and one against Airdrie – with the other being at Ibrox in March.
13 – Aberdeen made it two wins in four days thanks to a 2-1 victory over Livingston at Pittodrie on Sunday. The Dons extended their unbeaten run against Livi to 13 matches in all competitions – their last defeat against the Lions was way back in April 2004. Since then, Aberdeen have won 10 and drawn three, racking up a 25-6 aggregate scoreline in the process. This was the first time Aberdeen had recorded back-to-back wins since November, and Derek McInnes will be hoping the run continues in their Europa League tie with NSI Runavik on Thursday.
