Weekend in numbers

Resident statto @splstats looks at some of the numbers from the weekend...

14 – Hibernian defeated Hamilton Academical 3-2 at Easter Road on Friday to hold on to third place in the Premiership. Kevin Nisbet netted his fifth and sixth Premiership goals of the season to become the league’s leading goalscorer – it is the 14th time he has scored two or more goals in a game since the start of the 2018/19 season. The Hibees are now unbeaten in eight matches against Accies in all competitions, picking up six wins and two draws since their last defeat in August 2017.

11 – Aberdeen maintained their strong start to the season with 2-1 victory over St Mirren at Pittodrie on Friday. Derek McInnes’ side left it late, with Lewis Ferguson scoring a stoppage-time winner to take his tally to six goals in all competitions. The Dons are now unbeaten in 11 home league matches against the Buddies – St Mirren’s last league win in the Granite City was back in May 2011, when Gareth Wardlaw scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory.

1 – Livingston climbed into the top six of the Premiership, courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Dundee United at Tannadice. Gary Holt’s side came from behind to eventually secure the victory through Alan Forrest’s last-minute strike. This was Livi’s first away victory in any competition since January, when they defeated Hamilton Academical 4-2 at the Foys Stadium – their previous away win before that was in August 2019. Friday’s success was Livi’s first league win at Tannadice since a 1-0 success in March 2003, when Marvin Andrews scored the only goal, although they won there in the play-offs in May 2018.

0 – Celtic left it late to defeat St Johnstone 2-0 at McDiarmid Park on Sunday and keep themselves within a point of Rangers at the top of the Premiership. Leigh Griffiths came off the bench to score a 90th-minute goal in his first appearance since March, before Patryk Klimala rounded things off with his third goal of the season, all from the bench. Celtic have now gone over 1,000 minutes since they last conceded against Saints – they have kept 11 straight clean sheets against the Perth side in all competitions – the last St Johnstone player to score in this fixture was Steven MacLean in a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park in August 2017.

12 – Rangers remain a point clear at the top of the Premiership thanks to a 2-0 victory over Ross County at Ibrox. Goals from James Tavernier and Brandon Barker ensured that Steven Gerrard’s side extended their unbeaten run to 12 matches in all competitions. The Gers have still never lost to Ross County in a competitive match – the sides have now faced each other 13 times and Rangers have 10 wins, with the other three meetings ending in draws.
