3 – St Johnstone beat Hibernian 3-0 at Hampden on Saturday to move into the League Cup final for the third time in their history. Saints had lost each of their previous four League Cup semi-finals, two of them against Hibernian, but cruised into the final thanks to goals from Jason Kerr, Shaun Rooney and Craig Conway. This was their biggest win over Hibs since a 5-1 success at McDiarmid Park in 2010. The Perth club are aiming to become the 16th different club to win the competition, and to become the first new winners since Ross County in 2015/16. Callum Davidson and his players will hope it is third time lucky - Saints reached the final of the competition in 1969/70 and 1998/99 only to lose out narrowly to Celtic and Rangers respectively.
11 – Livingston reached their second League Cup final by defeating St Mirren 1-0 at Hampden on Sunday. Livi’s only previous appearance came in 2003/04 when they won the trophy by beating Hibernian 2-0 – they are now looking to become just the ninth club to win the League Cup more than once. The Lions are unbeaten in 11 matches since David Martindale took over, picking up nine wins and two draws. He is one of just four managers this century to avoid defeat in his first 11 competitive matches in charge of a top-flight club – the others were Martin O’Neill at Celtic and Alex McLeish and Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
5 – Rangers moved 23 points clear at the top of the Premiership thanks to a 5-0 victory over Ross County at Ibrox. Steven Gerrard’s side remain unbeaten in the league this season – they have 22 wins and three draws in their 25 matches. Rangers now require just 26 points from their remaining 13 matches to secure their first league title in a decade. The Gers have still never lost to the Staggies in a competitive match – they have 12 wins and three draws in 15 meetings, including victories in each of the last nine.
20 – Raith Rovers climbed to fourth place in the Championship thanks to a 3-2 victory over leaders Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle. Rovers had previously failed to win in their last 20 matches against Hearts, a run which included five draws and 15 defeats. Their last win over the Jam Tarts came when “Mr Blobby” was top of the UK music charts – that was back in December 1993, when David Sinclair scored the only goal in a 1-0 win at Tynecastle. John McGlynn’s side have the best away record in the division – they have picked up 11 points from six games on the road this season.
5 – Queen of the South defeated Greenock Morton 2-1 at Palmerston to climb to seventh in the Championship table. Allan Johnston’s side are now unbeaten in their last five matches in all competitions, which is their best run of form since they went six without defeat in November and December 2018. Queens had taken just four points from their opening nine Championship fixtures but have picked up 10 from their last four and are now just four points behind Raith Rovers in the final play-off spot.
