Weekend in numbers

Resident statto @splstats looks at some of the numbers from the weekend...

3 – Livingston defeated Hibernian 3-2 at Easter Road to move to within two points of the top six in the cinch Premiership. The Lions came from behind twice, through Ayo Obileye and Jack Fitzwater, before Alan Forrest scored the winning goal to lift them to eighth in the table. David Martindale’s side have three wins out of four in 2022, with their only defeat being a 1-0 loss at Ibrox in midweek. Livi have recorded back-to-back wins against the Hibees – the last time they did so was in 2003/04, when they managed three victories in a row, the third of which was the League Cup final.

10 – Heart of Midlothian moved 10 points clear in third place in the cinch Premiership thanks to a 2-0 victory over Motherwell at Tynecastle. Robbie Neilson’s side have secured five wins in their last six matches in all competitions, with the only exception being a defeat at home to Celtic in midweek. The Jam Tarts have kept six clean sheets in their last 10 matches – only Celtic, Rangers and Ross County have managed to score against them since mid-November. Hearts have lost just one of their last 11 home matches against the Steelmen - they’ve picked up eight wins and two draws in that spell.

1 – Kilmarnock moved to within one point of Arbroath at the top of the cinch Championship thanks to a 1-0 victory over Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Rugby Park. Kyle Lafferty scored the only goal of the game, his 14th in 15 appearances for the Ayrshire club, to give Killie their first home win since October. Derek McInnes became the first Killie boss to win his first home league match as permanent manager of the club since Jim Jefferies in 2002. All three matches between these sides this season have finished 1-0 – the Caley Jags won the previous two by that scoreline.

13 – Clyde defeated Alloa Athletic 2-1 at Broadwood to move to within a point of the promotion play-off places in cinch League 1. Aaron Splaine and Gregory Tade scored the goals for the Bully Wee as they leapfrogged Falkirk into fifth place in the table. This was Tade’s first goal for Clyde, 13 years after he made his debut for the club in January 2009. He made 13 appearances in his first spell and this was his 13th appearance of his second spell. Danny Lennon’s side have lost just one of their last 11 league matches – that was 1-0 at home to leaders Cove Rangers earlier this month.

6 – Cowdenbeath defeated Albion Rovers 1-0 at the Reigart Stadium to narrow the gap to their opponents at the bottom of cinch League 2. Fraser Mullen’s penalty helped Maurice Ross’ side move to within six points of Rovers, though the Coatbridge side do have a game in hand. The Blue Brazil have recorded back-to-back away wins for the first time since September 2019. Cowdenbeath ended a run of 10 matches without a win at Cliftonhill – their last success was in February 2006, when Liam Buchanan, Mikko Paatelainen and Graham Guy scored in a 3-1 victory.
