3 – Motherwell defeated Aberdeen 2-1 at Fir Park on Saturday to move into the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup. Goals from Kevin van Veen and Connor Shields helped the Steelmen come from behind to secure their spot in the last eight. Graham Alexander’s side have also won both cinch Premiership meetings with the Dons this season – it is the first time since 2011 that Motherwell have recorded three victories in a row against Aberdeen.
6 – Greenock Morton defeated Queen of the South 2-1 at Cappielow to climb to sixth in the cinch Championship. Morton trailed with 11 minutes to go but Gavin Reilly and Cameron Blues scored within the space of a minute to secure the victory. The Ton have picked up four wins and two draws in six league matches since Dougie Imrie took over - this is their best run of form since December 2016-January 2017. This is the first time Morton have come from behind to win a league game since October 2020, when they scored three times in the last 10 minutes to beat Ayr United 3-2 at Cappielow.
2 – Kilmarnock closed the gap at the top of the cinch Championship to two points thanks to a 2-1 victory over Dunfermline Athletic at the BBSP Stadium, Rugby Park. Kyle Lafferty scored both goals for the Ayrshire side as they came from behind to seal three points. Lafferty has 16 goals in 18 appearances for Killie across his two spells with the club, and this is the fifth time he has scored two or more goals in a game. It was just a second win in six matches in all competitions for Derek McInnes’ side, who remain behind Arbroath despite having played an extra game.
9 – Airdrieonians defeated Montrose 4-1 at the Penny Cars Stadium to close the gap at the top of cinch League 1 to five points. A Calum Gallagher double was followed by goals from Craig Watson and Adam Frizzell as Ian Murray’s side capitalised on leaders Cove Rangers’ draw with Queen’s Park. The Diamonds are unbeaten in nine league matches since losing to Montrose in December – this is their longest unbeaten run since January-February 2015.
6 – Edinburgh City moved further clear in the race for the promotion play-off spots in cinch League 2 thanks to a 1-0 victory over Stirling Albion on Friday night. Lee Hamilton scored the only goal of the game for the Citizens, who are now four points clear of fifth-placed Stenhousemuir. Gary Naysmith’s side are unbeaten in six league matches, including victories in each of their last three – this is their best run since March and April of last year.
