6 – Rangers defeated Dundee 2-1 at the Kilmac Stadium, Dens Park, to keep themselves three points behind Celtic at the top of the cinch Premiership table. Aaron Ramsey and Connor Goldson scored for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side as they came from 1-0 down to take all three points. This was the sixth time this season the Light Blues have won a league game after conceding the opening goal, more than any other side in the division. Rangers have won three times at Dens Park this term in all competitions – prior to this season they had failed to win in their previous three visits.
2 – St Johnstone moved four points clear of Dundee at the foot of the cinch Premiership table thanks to a dramatic 2-1 victory over Motherwell at McDiarmid Park. Callum Hendry scored a double, including a stoppage-time winner, as Callum Davidson’s side came from behind to secure three crucial points. Hendry has scored six goals in 10 matches for Saints since returning from his loan spell at Kilmarnock, four of which have directly contributed to his side gaining points. It was just the second time in Hendry’s club career that he scored a double – the only other came for Saints’ U20s against Dundee United in the Challenge Cup back in August 2018.
4 – Hamilton Academical thumped Partick Thistle 4-0 at Firhill to take a step closer to safety in the cinch Championship. An Andy Ryan double and goals from David Moyo and Andy Winter ensured that Stuart Taylor’s side moved themselves nine points clear of the relegation zone with just six games remaining. This was Accies’ biggest league win since they defeated Dundee 4-0 in May 2017, and their biggest league win away from home since September 2014, when Motherwell were beaten 4-0 at Fir Park. Accies had previously failed to win on their last nine visits to Firhill, and Saturday’s success was their biggest victory over Thistle there since they won 6-1 back in April 1932.
20 – Cove Rangers remain five points clear at the top of cinch League 1 thanks to a 2-1 victory over Montrose at Links Park. Goals from Mitch Megginson and Fraser Fyvie handed Paul Hartley’s side a crucial three points as they look to secure the title and promotion to the cinch Championship. The Toonsers are now unbeaten in 20 league matches – they have picked up 14 wins and six draws since their last defeat against East Fife back in October. With 62 goals in 30 matches, Cove are the joint second highest-scoring side in the SPFL – only Celtic (69) have scored more across all four divisions.
11 – Stranraer defeated Edinburgh City 2-1 at Ainslie Park on Friday night to keep alive their slim hopes of promotion from cinch League 2. Craig Ross and Sean Burns scored the goals for Jamie Hamill’s side as they moved to within six points of their opponents, who currently occupy the final play-off spot. The Blues have picked up 11 points from their last six matches, with their only defeat in that period coming against second-placed Annan Athletic at Galabank.
