7 – Celtic thumped St Johnstone 7-0 at Celtic Park to maintain their four-point lead at the top of the cinch Premiership. Reo Hatate, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Daizen Maeda, Josip Juranovic, Matt O’Riley (2) and Liel Abada were all on the scoresheet for Ange Postecoglou’s side as they extended their unbeaten league run to 27 matches. It’s the first time the Hoops have had six or more different goalscorers in a match since May 2016, when seven different players found the net in a 7-0 win over Motherwell. The victory extended Celtic’s unbeaten run against St Johnstone to 24 matches in all competitions – they have picked up 21 wins and three draws in that period, racking up a 68-9 aggregate score.
6 – Ross County secured a spot in the top six of the cinch Premiership thanks to a 1-0 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie. Joseph Hungbo’s late penalty secured the victory for the Staggies to ensure they joined Celtic, Rangers, Hearts, Dundee United and Motherwell in the top half. County only picked up three points from their opening 10 fixtures, but since then they have picked up a further 37 points - only Celtic and Rangers have picked up more in this period. The Dingwall side lost just two of their last 11 pre-split fixtures and picked up 13 points from their last six matches as they timed their top-six run to perfection.
4 – Arbroath defeated Hamilton Academical 1-0 at New Douglas Park to keep the pressure on cinch Championship leaders Kilmarnock. Jack Hamilton scored the only goal of the game for Dick Campbell’s side as they remained four points behind Killie with three matches remaining. The Red Lichties have lost just one of their last 12 league matches and have suffered just four league defeats all season. Each of Arbroath’s last five league victories have come by a single goal, with Hamilton responsible for the winning goal in three of those. The on-loan Livingston striker has scored 16 goals in 30 appearances across his two spells with the Red Lichties.
23 – Cove Rangers extended their lead at the top of cinch League 1 thanks to a 2-0 victory over Falkirk at the Falkirk Stadium. Harry Milne scored both goals for the Toonsers as they moved five points clear of Airdrieonians with three matches remaining. Paul Hartley’s side are unbeaten in their last 23 league matches, a run stretching back to mid-October – Celtic are the only SPFL side with a longer undefeated streak. Cove have won each of their last three matches against the Bairns, two of which have been away from home – indeed Falkirk have only beaten Cove once since they were promoted to the third tier in 2020.
3 – Cowdenbeath defeated Annan Athletic 3-2 at Galabank to keep alive their slim hopes of avoiding bottom spot in cinch League 2. Andrew Barrowman, Craig Barr and Samuel Ompreon were all on target as the Blue Brazil closed the gap on Elgin City at the foot of the table to nine points. This was Cowden’s first win over Annan since January 2020 – they had suffered four defeats and picked up three draws in seven matches since then. The Fife club still face an uphill task – they will have to win their last three matches and hope Elgin lose all three. If they do finish bottom, Cowdenbeath will face a two-legged play-off against either Lowland League champions Bonnyrigg Rose or the Highland League champions, who will be one of Fraserburgh or Buckie Thistle.
