28 – Celtic retained their six-point lead at the top of the cinch Premiership thanks to a 2-0 victory over Ross County at the Global Energy Stadium. Goals from Kyogo Furuhashi and Jota helped the Hoops move one victory closer to the title, which they could all but seal with a win over Rangers next Sunday. Ange Postecoglou’s side are now unbeaten in 28 league matches – they have picked up 24 wins and four draws since their defeat to Livingston way back in September.
52 – Rangers defeated Motherwell 3-1 at Fir Park to keep up the pressure on Celtic at the top of the cinch Premiership table. Second-half goals from Scott Wright and James Tavernier ensured that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side took all three points despite a first-half red card for Leon Balogun. The Light Blues are now unbeaten in 52 league matches against Motherwell – they have picked up 37 wins and 15 draws in that period. Motherwell have defeated Rangers in the play-offs and League Cup during this period, but have not beaten them in the league since Boxing Day 2002.
57 – Kilmarnock defeated Arbroath 2-1 at the BBSP Stadium, Rugby Park to secure the cinch Championship title. Derek McInnes’ side trailed 1-0 until the final 15 minutes, but Ash Taylor equalised before a last-minute goal from Blair Alston sealed their immediate return to the top flight. It was Killie’s fourth league title, and their first in 57 years – the last time came in 1964/65 when they were top-flight champions for the only time in their history. Killie had won the second tier on two previous occasions, but those were way back in 1897/98 and 1898/99. The Ayrshire side have recorded seven consecutive home league wins – this is their best run at Rugby Park since they won nine in a row in March-October 1979.
25 – Cove Rangers sealed the cinch League 1 title with a 1-0 victory over Dumbarton at Balmoral Stadium. Mitch Megginson scored the only goal of the game, his 16th of the season in League 1, to ensure that the Toonsers recorded a third promotion in four seasons. Cove will be just the second former Highland League club to make it to the second tier of Scottish football, following in the footsteps of Ross County. The league title has been secured thanks to an incredible 25-match unbeaten run – their last defeat was in October, and since then Paul Hartley’s side have picked up 17 wins and eight draws to see off the very strong challenge of Airdrieonians.
3 – Edinburgh City secured a top-four finish in cinch League 2 courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Annan Athletic at Ainslie Park on Friday. Goals from Ryan Shanley and Ouzy See handed City the three points, and Stenhousemuir’s defeat to Stranraer on Saturday secured their play-off spot. This will be the Citizens' third attempt at gaining promotion to cinch League 1 via the play-offs – they were beaten semi-finalists in 2018/19, and lost in the final to Dumbarton last season.
