Weekend in numbers

Resident statto @splstats looks at some of the numbers from the weekend...

4 – Aberdeen defeated St Mirren 4-1 at Pittodrie to pick up their first cinch Premiership victory of the season. A double from Bojan Miovski followed by goals from Leighton Clarkson and Luis “Duk” Lopes ensured a comfortable victory for Jim Goodwin against his former club. Clarkson became just the fourth Dons player this century to make a goalscoring league debut as a substitute, the others being Leon Mike, Ryan Hedges and Bruce Anderson. Aberdeen are now unbeaten in their last 15 home league matches against Saints – the last time Saints took three points home from Pittodrie was back in 2011, when Gareth Wardlaw scored the only goal in a 1-0 win.

12 – Rangers made it two wins out of two in the cinch Premiership by defeating Kilmarnock 2-0 at Ibrox. Antonio Colak scored his first goal for the club before a late strike from substitute Alfredo Morelos sealed the three points. Morelos was making his first appearance since March and continued his impressive goalscoring record against Killie – he has now scored 12 times in 15 appearances against the Ayrshire side, more than he has netted against any other club. Rangers have lost just one of their last 39 league matches at Ibrox – they have picked up 34 wins in that period.

3 – Ayr United finished the weekend level on points at the top of the cinch Championship thanks to a 3-2 comeback victory over Queen’s Park at Ochilview on Friday night. Lee Bullen’s side trailed 2-0 at half-time, but Dipo Akinyemi and Sean McGinty levelled things up before a stoppage-time Akinyemi penalty sealed the victory. It’s the first time Ayr have come from two goals behind to win a game away from home since February 1999, when they defeated Raith Rovers 4-2 at Stark’s Park despite going 2-0 down inside the first eight minutes. The Honest Men are now unbeaten in their last 12 league meetings with the Spiders – they’ve picked up 10 wins and two draws since their last defeat back in August 2007.

4 – Airdrieonians thumped Falkirk 4-0 at the Excelsior Stadium to continue their perfect start to the cinch League 1 season. A double from Calum Gallagher and goals from Gabby McGill and Salim Kouider-Aissa made it two wins from two for Rhys McCabe’s side. This is the first time in a decade they have won their opening two matches of a league campaign – the last time was in Division 1 in 2012/13. The Diamonds have now won seven of their last eight matches against the Bairns and have lost just one of their last 11.

2 – Dumbarton made it two wins out of two in cinch League 2 thanks to a 2-1 victory over Albion Rovers at the Reigart Stadium. Stuart Carswell and Ryan Wallace scored the goals as Stevie Farrell’s side came from behind to seal three points. This is just the second time in the last 18 years that the Sons have started a league campaign with two wins out of two – they also did so in the 2015/16 Championship season. Dumbarton have lost just one of their last 13 matches against Albion Rovers in all competitions, a run stretching back to 2008.
