4 – Rangers thumped Aberdeen 4-1 at Ibrox to continue their impressive home form in the cinch Premiership. Goals from Antonio Colak, John Lundstram, James Tavernier and Alfredo Morelos gave Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side their sixth home win in seven matches. The Gers are now unbeaten in 12 matches against the Dons in all competitions – they have picked up eight wins and four draws since their last defeat in March 2019. This is the fourth time in the last seven meetings with Aberdeen at Ibrox that they have scored four or more goals.
11 – Heart of Midlothian climbed back into the top six of the cinch Premiership thanks to a 2-1 victory over Ross County at the Global Energy Stadium. Goals from Lawrence Shankland and Andy Halliday handed Robbie Neilson’s side their first league win since mid-September. Shankland has now scored 11 goals in all competitions, including eight in the league – only Antonio Colak has scored more in the cinch Premiership. The Jam Tarts are now unbeaten on their last 10 visits to Dingwall – their last (and only defeat) there came back in September 2013. Since then, they have picked up five wins and five draws.
4 – Greenock Morton beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle 4-0 at Cappielow to climb to second in the cinch Championship. Goals from Robbie Muirhead, Grant Gillespie and Cameron Blues, plus a David Carson own goal, saw Dougie Imrie’s side leapfrog their opponents in the league and remain just three points behind leaders Ayr United. The Ton have picked up four wins and a draw in their last five matches and have kept four consecutive clean sheets for the first time since July 2016. Friday night’s success equalled Morton’s biggest ever win over the Caley Jags – they beat them 5-1 in their first ever meeting at Cappielow in November 1999.
4 – Airdrieonians continued their up and down season in cinch League 1 by defeating Montrose 4-0 at the Excelsior Stadium. A Lewis Jamieson hat-trick plus a goal from Craig Watson helped Rhys McCabe’s side pick up their first win since they defeated Clyde 5-0 in mid-September. Jamieson’s hat-trick was the second consecutive treble for an Airdrie player in a home game against the Gable Endies – Callum Smith scored three in their dramatic 6-4 win against the same opponents in the play-offs in May. He was the first Diamonds player to score a league hat-trick since Leighton McIntosh in a 4-1 win over Stranraer in May 2019.
7 – Stirling Albion defeated Bonnyrigg Rose 2-1 at Forthbank to stay top of the cinch League 2 table. A Dale Carrick double was enough to hand Darren Young’s side a seventh consecutive victory (six in League 2 and a Scottish Cup success at Brechin on penalties) and keep them ahead of Dumbarton on goal difference. The Binos’ current winning run is their best since October-December 2006, when Allan Moore’s side won 10 in a row on their way to promotion from the third tier. They are still only halfway to equalling the club record of 14 wins in a row, which was achieved way back in 1961. Carrick has now scored in six consecutive league games and has netted 13 times in all competitions this season.
