Weekend in numbers

Resident statto @splstats looks at some of the numbers from the weekend...

5 – Dundee defeated Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1-0 at the Caledonian Stadium to climb to second place in the cinch Championship table. Paul McMullan scored the only goal to give Gary Bowyer’s side their fourth away league win of the season. The Dee have now recorded five consecutive victories in all competitions, which is their best run within a single season since their 2011/12 promotion campaign. Incredibly, this was Dundee’s first ever league win in Inverness – they had failed to win there on 13 previous visits in the league, though they did secure a victory in the Scottish Cup in January 2018.

8 – Ayr United maintained their lead at the top of the cinch Championship thanks to a 2-0 victory over Raith Rovers at Somerset Park. Josh Mullin scored both goals, his first ever league double in the SPFL, to hand Lee Bullen’s side three points. Ayr are now unbeaten in their last eight matches in all competitions, their best run since they went 10 without defeat in October-December 2018. Ayr have lost just one of their last 12 league matches at Somerset Park – that defeat came against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in October.

5 – Edinburgh climbed back into second place in cinch League 1 by defeating Clyde 2-0 at New Douglas Park. John Robertson and Danny Handling scored the goals to help Alan Maybury’s side bounce back from last weekend’s Scottish Cup disappointment. The Citizens are now just five points behind Dunfermline Athletic at the top of the table and have already racked up five away league wins this season. Handling moved on to nine league goals for the season – he is now level with Jordan Allan and Ruari Paton as the division’s top goalscorer.

3 – Kelty Hearts beat Peterhead 3-0 at New Central Park in cinch League 1 thanks to goals from Thomas O’Ware, Nicky Low and Alfredo Agyeman. John Potter’s side remain in eighth place in cinch League 2 but are now closer to the promotion play-off spots than the relegation ones – they are eight points behind fourth-placed Montrose, but 11 clear of Clyde in ninth. It was Kelty’s first ever competitive win over Peterhead – in three previous meetings they had drawn one and lost two.

9 – Forfar Athletic defeated Albion Rovers 1-0 at Station Park to move level on points with Bonnyrigg Rose at the foot of cinch League 2. Ben Armour scored the only goal to hand Ray McKinnon his first victory since taking over as manager last month. Forfar maintained their superb record against Rovers – they have eight wins and a draw in their last nine matches against the Coatbridge side.
