5 – Livingston defeated Kilmarnock 3-1 at the Tony Macaroni Arena to climb to fourth place in the cinch Premiership. Joel Nouble, Bruce Anderson and Stephen Kelly were on the scoresheet for David Martindale’s side as they extended their unbeaten home run to five matches. The Lions have now recorded five consecutive victories against Killie, a run which extends back to Boxing Day 2020 – this is Livi’s best ever run in this fixture. It was the first time in over two years that Livingston scored three or more goals at home in the league – the last time they did so was a 3-1 win over Ross County in January 2021.
8 – Heart of Midlothian moved further clear in third place in the cinch Premiership after beating Dundee United 3-1 at Tynecastle. Lawrence Shankland, Alex Cochrane and Stephen Humphrys all scored in the last 20 minutes as Robbie Neilson’s side came from behind to move seven points clear in the race for third. Shankland has now scored 17 league goals –the last Hearts player to reach this tally in the league was John Robertson in 1989/90. Hearts are unbeaten in eight matches against United in all competitions, picking up five wins and three draws since their last defeat in February 2016.
6 – Cove Rangers defeated Partick Thistle 1-0 at Firhill to move further clear of the relegation zone in the cinch Championship. Mitch Megginson scored the only goal of the game to give Paul Hartley his first win since returning to the club last month. Cove have still never lost to the Jags in the league – the sides have now met on six occasions, with Cove winning twice and the other four all finishing in draws. Thistle’s only win over Cove came in the Scottish Cup back in 2012.
10 – Dunfermline Athletic remain five points clear at the top of cinch League 1 following a 2-0 victory over Montrose at East End Park. Rhys Breen and Craig Wighton scored the goals for James McPake’s side to extend their unbeaten run to 10 league matches. The Pars’ only league defeat came against the Gable Endies at Links Park in October – since then they’ve picked up seven wins and three draws. Dunfermline are one of just four SPFL sides unbeaten at home in the league this season, the others are Celtic, Rangers and Dumbarton.
4 – Forfar Athletic beat Stranraer 2-1 at Station Park to climb into the top four of cinch League 2. Seb Ross and Stefan McCluskey found the net for Ray McKinnon’s side as they leapfrogged Elgin City into the final play-off spot. Forfar were 10th at the start of December but have picked up six wins out of seven and are now 11 points clear of bottom club Bonnyrigg. The Loons have recorded four consecutive league wins for the first time since November and December 2021.
