Weekend in numbers

Resident statto @splstats looks at some of the numbers from the weekend...

7 - Hibernian defeated Livingston 4-1 at the Tony Macaroni Arena to move further clear of their opponents in the battle for the cinch Premiership top six. Two goals from Elie Youan and one from Mykola Kukharevych, plus a Stephane Omeonga own goal, kept the Hibees in fourth place, five points behind Hearts and five clear of seventh-placed Livi. Youan has scored five goals in his last five matches, having previously only found the net once in his first 22 appearances for the club. Lee Johnson's side are now unbeaten in seven cinch Premiership matches - they have five wins and two draws and have scored 19 goals in the process.

4 - Motherwell moved six points clear of the relegation places in the cinch Premiership thanks to a 2-0 victory over Ross County at the Global Energy Stadium. Kevin van Veen scored twice to hand the Steelmen a crucial win which leaves them in ninth place, 10 points clear of bottom club Dundee United and six ahead of both County and Kilmarnock. Van Veen has now scored 17 goals in all competitions this season, which is the highest total for a Motherwell player since Louis Moult scored 18 in 2016/17. Stuart Kettlewell has three wins and a draw in four matches in charge of the Steelmen - this is the best start of any Motherwell manager since Roger Hynd won his first four games in charge back in 1977.

5 - Inverness Caledonian Thistle defeated Ayr United 2-1 at Somerset Park to climb to sixth place in the cinch Championship table. Sean Welsh and Jay Henderson scored the goals as Billy Dodds' side came from behind to end a run of six league matches without a win. The Caley Jags are just five points behind fourth-placed Greenock Morton in the race for the promotion play-off places with a quarter of the season remaining. Inverness are now unbeaten in their last five matches against the Honest Men in Ayrshire - they have picked up three wins and two draws since their last defeat back in January 2020. In all, Inverness have lost just two of their last 25 league meetings with Ayr, stretching back to 2003.

3 - Falkirk remain five points off the top of cinch League 1 after defeating Peterhead 5-0 at the Falkirk Stadium. Craig McGuffie came off the bench to score a 14-minute hat-trick, adding to earlier goals from Max Kucheriavyi and Coll Donaldson. McGuffie is the first ever player to score a treble for the Bairns after coming on as a substitute. John McGlynn's side are now unbeaten in 11 matches in all competitions - they have picked up 10 wins and a draw since their last defeat back in early December. This is Falkirk's best unbeaten run since they strung together 13 without defeat from November 2019-February 2020. The Bairns have scored five or more goals on four separate occasions since the start of November.

9 - East Fife defeated Forfar Athletic 3-2 at the MGM Timber Bayview Stadium to move to within touching distance of the promotion play-offs in cinch League 2. Alan Trouten scored a late winner for Greig McDonald's side as they leapfrogged their opponents into fifth place in the table, two points behind third-placed Stenhousemuir and one behind Annan Athletic in fourth. The Fifers have recorded nine consecutive wins against the Loons, the longest run either side has ever put together in this fixture. Forfar's last win against East Fife was back in May 2019, when they picked up a 3-2 win of their own in Methil.
