3 – Hamilton Academical won the 2022/23 SPFL Trust Trophy thanks to a 1-0 victory over Raith Rovers at the Falkirk Stadium on Sunday in front of 5,566 fans. Reghan Tumilty scored the only goal of the game as Accies won the competition for the third time, following the successes in 1991/92 and 1992/93. John Rankin’s side have picked up seven wins and three draws in their last 13 matches, with their only defeats in that period coming against Heart of Midlothian, Queen’s Park and Ayr United.
1 – Arbroath defeated leaders Queen’s Park 1-0 at Ochilview to climb out of the relegation places in the cinch Championship. Dale Hilson’s late goal was enough to give Dick Campbell’s side the three points and move them above Cove Rangers into eighth place. The Red Lichties are now unbeaten in five league matches, their best run of the season, although they had drawn each of their previous four games. Four of Arbroath’s five league wins this season have come away from home – only second-placed Dundee have lost fewer cinch Championship matches on the road.
17 – Dunfermline Athletic defeated Montrose 3-1 at Links Park to move a step closer to the cinch League 1 title. Lewis McCann’s opener was followed by a Craig Wighton double as James McPake’s side extended their lead at the top of the table to 11 points with just seven matches remaining. The Pars are now unbeaten in 17 league matches – their only loss this campaign came on their previous visit to Montrose back in October. This is their best unbeaten streak in the league since Bert Paton’s side set a club record of 20 matches without loss between January and September 1995.
5 – Airdrieonians continued their astonishing goalscoring form in cinch League 1 by beating Clyde 5-1 at New Douglas Park. Rhys McCabe’s side have now scored 18 goals in their last three matches, with Gabby McGill contributing seven of those, including a double on Friday night. The Diamonds are the first team to score five or more goals in three consecutive league matches since Rangers did so, also in League 1, back in August and September 2013. The last time a side other than Rangers or Celtic achieved this feat was almost 50 years ago, when Stirling Albion racked up 7-1 wins against Forfar Athletic and Albion Rovers and a 5-2 win over Brechin City in March 1974.
9 – Bonnyrigg Rose secured a vital 1-0 win over Albion Rovers at the Reigart Stadium to climb off the foot of cinch League 2 for the first time since January. Kieran Mitchell scored the only goal of the game for Robbie Horn’s side as they moved a point above Rovers, and within two points of Elgin City in the battle to avoid the play-offs. Rose have now recorded 1-0 victories in three of their last four away matches, with their only away defeat in that period coming against league leaders Stirling Albion. It was Bonnyrigg’s first ever competitive victory over Rovers – they had lost all three of their previous encounters.
