60 – Celtic defeated Rangers 1-0 at Hampden to reach the Scottish Cup final for the first time in three seasons. Jota scored the only goal of the game to extend Ange Postecoglou’s side’s unbeaten run against their rivals to six matches in all competitions. It will be a record 60th Scottish Cup final for the Hoops, who have won the cup on 40 previous occasions, most recently in 2020. Celtic are unbeaten in their last 33 domestic matches – they have picked up 31 wins and two draws since losing to St Mirren in September.
100 – Inverness Caledonian Thistle reached the Scottish Cup final thanks to a 3-0 win over Falkirk at Hampden. Two goals from Billy Mckay and one from Daniel MacKay secured the Caley Jags’ spot in the final for the second time in their history – their only previous appearance saw them win the trophy in 2015. Mckay’s double took his tally for the club to 100 goals, just one short of the club record held by Dennis Wyness. The Northern Ireland international striker has played 244 games for Inverness across three spells with the club – he scored 62 times in his first stint between 2011 and 2015, added four more in a loan spell in 2017, and has netted 34 since returning to the club in 2021.
14 – Greenock Morton defeated Queen’s Park 2-1 at Cappielow to keep their cinch Championship promotion hopes alive. The victory extends Morton’s unbeaten league run against the Spiders to 14 matches – their last defeat was back in April 1962. Grant Gillespie and Robbie Crawford scored the goals as Dougie Imrie’s side came from behind to set up a thrilling final night of the season on Friday. Morton sit in sixth place, but are just a point behind Inverness CT and Ayr United, and two behind Partick Thistle, and could still finish in the top four with a win over Cove. Queen’s Park still have the cinch Championship title in their own hands – a victory at home to Dundee would see them win the league.
4 – Alloa Athletic secured a top four finish in cinch League 1 by thumping Montrose 4-0 at Links Park. A double from Conor Sammon and goals from Kevin Cawley and Murray Miller ensured that Brian Rice’s side will compete in the play-offs for promotion to the Championship. Sammon has scored 18 goals in all competitions, which equals his best ever tally for a campaign in Scottish football – he scored the same number for Kilmarnock in 2010/11. The Wasps are undefeated in their last 21 league matches against the Gable Endies – they have picked up 16 wins and five draws since their last defeat back in March 1995.
1 – Elgin City recorded a dramatic 1-0 victory over Dumbarton at Borough Briggs to secure their place in cinch League 2 for another season. Ross Draper’s stoppage time winner moved City four points clear of bottom club Albion Rovers with just one game to go. Elgin have picked up seven points in four matches since interim manager Charlie Charlesworth took over earlier this month, and that has been enough to keep them in the division. Next season will be Elgin’s 24th consecutive season in the fourth tier – this is the longest run without promotion or relegation in the history of the division.
