5 – Celtic celebrated their cinch Premiership trophy day in style with a 5-0 victory over Aberdeen at Celtic Park. Doubles from Kyogo Furuhashi and Hyeongyu Oh plus a goal from Carl Starfelt ensured that Ange Postecoglou’s side completed the season without a single home defeat. Kyogo’s two goals mean he ended the season as the cinch Premiership’s top scorer, netting 27 times across the campaign. Celtic finished with 114 league goals – this is the highest tally in the top flight since Heart of Midlothian scored 132 goals in their 1957/58 title-winning campaign. The Hoops are now unbeaten in 21 matches against Aberdeen in all competitions.
4 – Heart of Midlothian secured 4th place in the cinch Premiership and a guaranteed place in Europe thanks to a 1-1 draw against Hibernian at Tynecastle. Yutaro Oda’s early goal was cancelled out by Kevin Nisbet, but 10-man Hearts held on for the point which ensured they finished ahead of their city rivals. It means that Hearts will compete in Europe in two consecutive seasons for the first time in over a decade – they last did so in 2011/12 and 2012/13. The Jam Tarts have lost just one of their last 11 matches against Hibs in all competitions. Fifth-placed Hibs will also be in Europe if Celtic beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle in Saturday’s Scottish Cup final.
10 – Kilmarnock defeated Ross County 3-1 at the BBSP Stadium, Rugby Park to ensure their place in next season’s cinch Premiership. Goals from Brad Lyons, Daniel Armstrong and Kyle Vassell handed Killie a crucial victory which secured a 10th-place finish in their first season back in the top flight. Derek McInnes’ side had the best home record of any side in the bottom six – they picked up 32 of their 40 points in Ayrshire and lost just five times. Killie are now unbeaten in their last eight home matches against the Staggies – they’ve picked up six wins and two draws since their last defeat back in September 2017.
11 – Kevin van Veen scored for an incredible 11th consecutive cinch Premiership match as Motherwell defeated Dundee United 3-2 at Fir Park on Sunday. The Dutchman set a new club record for scoring in consecutive matches for the Steelmen, beating the tally set by Hugh Ferguson way back in 1919. He is the first player in over half a century to score in 11 consecutive Scottish top-flight matches – the last player to do so was Bobby Lennox, who scored in 13 straight league games for Celtic between March and September 1968. Motherwell finished the campaign in 7th place after picking up 30 points in the 14 matches since Stuart Kettlewell took over in February.
8 – Partick Thistle moved a step closer to promotion to the cinch Premiership after thumping Ayr United 5-0 at Somerset Park on Friday night. Jack McMillan, Scott Tiffoney (2), Steven Lawless and Kevin Holt were all on the scoresheet for Kris Doolan’s side as they completed an 8-0 aggregate victory. The Jags’ success was the biggest two-legged winning margin in any SPFL play-off across all divisions since they were introduced back in 2006. Thistle have now racked up an astonishing 16 goals across four matches in the first two rounds of the play-offs, taking their tally for the season to 98 goals. They now face Ross County over two legs on Thursday and Sunday for a place in next season’s top flight.
