5 – St Mirren defeated Motherwell 1-0 at Fir Park to continue their unbeaten start to the cinch Premiership season. Scott Tanser’s goal was enough to make it three wins and two draws in five league matches for Stephen Robinson’s side, who sit two points behind leaders Celtic. It is the first time Saints have gone five matches unbeaten at the start of a top-flight season since 1970/71 but they will be hoping the rest of this campaign goes better than that one – they finished 17th and were relegated. St Mirren had already defeated Motherwell in Paisley in the Viaplay Cup last month – this is the first time they have beaten them home and away in the same season since 2008/09.
11 – Heart of Midlothian moved back into the top half of the cinch Premiership thanks to a 2-0 victory over Aberdeen at Tynecastle. Goals from Yutaro Oda and Liam Boyce handed the Jam Tarts their first league win since the opening day. Hearts are now unbeaten in their last 11 home matches against the Dons in all competitions – they have picked up seven wins and four draws since their last defeat in May 2017.
23 – Raith Rovers defeated Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1-0 at Stark’s Park to climb to the top of the cinch Championship. Jamie Gullan’s late winner took Ian Murray’s side to 13 points from their opening five points, moving them two points clear of Dundee United. Incredibly, this was Rovers’ first league victory over the Caley Jags in 23 years – their last win came back in October 2000, when Jay Stein and Ivan Mballa scored in a 2-1 win. In 32 matches in all competitions since, Rovers had drawn nine and lost 23, although they did win penalty shoot-outs after two of those draws.
11 – Hamilton Academical maintained their unbeaten start to the season by beating Alloa Athletic 2-1 at New Douglas Park in cinch League 1. Euan Henderson’s opener was cancelled out in the second half but Joe McGlynn scored a stoppage-time winner to keep John Rankin’s side level on points with Falkirk at the top of the table. Accies have picked up eight wins and three draws in 11 matches this season – the last time they went 11 unbeaten was under Alex Neil in the top flight in 2014/15.
5 – Stenhousemuir thumped Stranraer 5-0 at Ochilview to move up to 2nd place in cinch League 2. Matty Aitken opened the scoring before doubles from Gregor Buchanan and Adam Brown rounded off a comprehensive victory which leaves Gary Naysmith’s side as one of four clubs level on 11 points from six matches at the top of the table. The last time the Warriors scored five goals in a game was almost seven years ago – that was a 5-0 win over Airdrie at the Excelsior in December 2016, when Willis Furtado, David Marsh (2), Alan Cook and Carlos Mazana-Martinez scored the goals.
