3 – Airdrieonians remain in fourth place in the cinch Championship thanks to a 1-0 victory over leaders Raith Rovers at the Excelsior Stadium. Nikolay Todorov scored the only goal of the game to make it three straight wins for Rhys McCabe’s side. The last time the Diamonds recorded three victories in a row in the second tier was back in December 2005, when Sandy Stewart was in charge. Airdrie have inflicted both of Rovers’ league defeats this season – they also beat them 1-0 at home back in September.
8 – Greenock Morton defeated Dundee United 3-2 at Tannadice to climb to fifth in the cinch Championship table. George Oakley’s hat-trick handed Dougie Imrie’s side all three points to keep them just two points behind Airdrieonians in the final promotion play-off spot. Oakley became the second Morton player to score a treble in 2024, following Robbie Muirhead’s three goals against Ayr United earlier in the week. Morton are now unbeaten in their last eight matches in all competitions, winning six and drawing two.
24 – Falkirk defeated Queen of the South 1-0 at the Falkirk Stadium to extend their lead at the top of cinch League 1 to eight points. Aidan Nesbitt’s goal just after the interval was enough to make it five straight league victories for John McGlynn’s side. The Bairns set a new club record of 24 matches unbeaten in all competitions – their last loss came against Dundee United in the Viaplay Cup back in July. Falkirk remain the only SPFL side unbeaten in the league this season – they have picked up 15 wins and four draws from 19 league matches.
5 – Alloa Athletic beat Edinburgh City 3-1 at the Indodrill Stadium to climb to fifth in the cinch League 1 table. Goals from Bobby Wales, Kevin Cawley and Ally Roy moved the Wasps to within a point of Montrose in the final promotion play-off spot. Andy Graham’s side are now unbeaten in five matches in all competitions – this is Alloa’s longest run without defeat since August-October 2022.
10 – Stenhousemuir moved 14 points clear at the top of cinch League 2 thanks to a 2-1 victory over Forfar Athletic at Ochilview. Gregor Buchanan and Nicky Jamieson were the goalscorers as the Warriors took another step closer to their first ever league title. Gary Naysmith’s side have now won 10 consecutive league matches – they are the first side to do so at this level since Rangers won 11 in a row in 2012/13. The fourth-tier record for consecutive victories is held by Gretna, who won 14 in a row between January and May 2005. Stenhousemuir also equalled their own club record for consecutive league wins – this was originally set back in the 1960/61 campaign.
5 – The Spartans beat Peterhead 1-0 at Balmoor to climb into second place in cinch League 2. Blair Henderson’s late goal was enough to give Dougie Samuel’s side all three points and propel them above both the Blue Toon and Dumbarton in the table. Spartans have now won five consecutive matches in all competitions, and have kept four straight clean sheets in the league. Saturday’s win was their third at Balmoor already this season – they also won 1-0 in the first league meeting, as well as picking up a 2-1 victory there in the Viaplay Cup.
