126 – Kilmarnock defeated Dundee 2-0 at The BBSP Stadium, Rugby Park to move into the 5th Round of the Scottish Cup. Kyle Vassell and Marley Watkins both found the net inside the opening 126 seconds to set up a home tie against Brora Rangers or Cove Rangers. It was the first time a team have scored twice in the opening three minutes of a Scottish Cup tie since Elgin City did so in a 5-2 win over Fraserburgh in October 2011. Derek McInnes’ side have lost just one of their last eight matches in all competitions, picking up five victories, with their only defeat coming at Ibrox.
1 – Airdrieonians reached the 5th Round of the Scottish Cup thanks to a 1-0 victory over cinch Premiership side St Johnstone at the Excelsior Stadium. Nikolay Todorov’s goal was enough to give Rhys McCabe’s men a fourth consecutive victory in all competitions. It was the Diamonds’ first Scottish Cup victory over top-flight opposition since they beat Dunfermline Athletic in 2005/06. However, they have beaten Premiership clubs in the League Cup in each of the last three seasons. Airdrie will host Heart of Midlothian in Round 5 – it will be the first time they have played at that stage of the cup since 2008/09.
3 – Partick Thistle beat Ross County 3-0 at the Global Energy Stadium to secure a spot in Round 5 of the Scottish Cup. Brian Graham, Scott Robinson and Stuart Bannigan all found the net for the Jags. It was Thistle’s biggest away win over top-flight opposition in the Scottish Cup in almost a century, since they defeated Dundee United 3-0 in 1930. Saturday’s win was the first time in 12 attempts that the Jags’ have beaten an opponent from a higher division in the Scottish Cup – the last time was a penalty shoot-out success against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2005/06.
1 – Bonnyrigg Rose reached Round 5 of the Scottish Cup thanks to a 2-1 victory over cinch League 1 leaders Falkirk at New Dundas Park. Conor Doan’s opener was cancelled out by Liam Henderson, but Bradley Barrett’s last-minute winner took Robbie Horn’s side through and set up a trip to Pittodrie in the next round. This is the furthest Rose have ever made it in the Scottish Cup, and they are the only cinch League 2 side left in the competition.
12 – Stenhousemuir defeated Stranraer 1-0 at Ochilview to continue their incredible winning run in cinch League 2. A Kyle Girvan own goal was enough to move Gary Naysmith’s side 16 points clear at the top of the table with just 15 matches remaining. It was their third victory of the season against Stranraer – they have yet to even concede a goal against the Blues. The Warriors have now won 12 consecutive matches, and six of their last eight have been by a one-goal margin.
