1 – Livingston boosted their hopes of survival in the cinch Premiership with a 1-0 victory over St Mirren at the Tony Macaroni Arena. Tete Yengi and Shamal George were the heroes – the former scored the only goal, while the latter saved a penalty in the second half. Livi are now just three points behind Ross County, who they face in a crucial match next weekend. It was the Lions’ first league win since beating Motherwell 2-0 in October – in 17 matches since then they had lost 14 and drawn just three. The victory also ended a run of 12 games without a win against St Mirren – their last victory over Saints was back in February 2020.
8 – Heart of Midlothian defeated Motherwell 2-0 at Tynecastle to boost their slim hopes of a top two finish in the cinch Premiership. Lawrence Shankland netted his 25th goal of the season for the Jam Tarts before Kenneth Vargas rounded off the victory in stoppage time. Hearts sit comfortably in third place, 11 points behind second placed Celtic, and 14 clear of Kilmarnock in fourth. Steven Naismith’s side have recorded eight consecutive wins in all competitions and are unbeaten in their last 12 games. They have taken 28 points from their last 10 league games (nine wins and one draw) – this is their best 10-match run in the top flight since Jim Jefferies’ side picked up 28 points (nine wins and one draw) from November 2010 to January 2011.
1 – Raith Rovers secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Dundee United at Stark’s Park to breathe fresh life into the cinch Championship title race. Zak Rudden’s early goal was cancelled out before half-time, but Scott Brown’s stunning late winner closed the gap at the top of the table to a single point. Rovers have taken seven points out of nine against their title rivals this season, having also won at Tannadice in their previous meeting. Ian Murray’s side have picked up 14 wins in 23 league matches this season, and all of them have been by a single-goal margin – they are now just five one-goal wins short of the all-time record of 19 in a season, set by Heart of Midlothian in 1991/92.
11 – Falkirk moved 11 points clear at the top of cinch League 1 thanks to a 3-2 victory over title rivals Hamilton Academical at the Falkirk Stadium. Goals from Callumn Morrison, Ross MacIver and Calvin Miller saw the Bairns race into a three-goal lead inside the first half-hour, and they survived an Accies fightback to secure the victory. John McGlynn’s side remain the only SPFL club who are unbeaten in the league this season – they have picked up 18 wins and five draws from their 23 matches. Including the final two matches of last season, Falkirk are now unbeaten in 25 league matches, just one short of their club record, set between January and September 1994 under Jim Jefferies.
2 – Clyde defeated Dumbarton 2-0 at New Douglas Park to boost their hopes of survival in cinch League 2. A Martin Rennie double, his ninth and tenth goals of the season, gave Ian McCall’s side a crucial victory which helped them close the gap at the foot of the table. Clyde now trail Forfar Athletic and Stranraer by eight points, and could close that gap to five when they host Forfar tomorrow night. The Bully Wee have taken nine points from their last seven matches, which is as many as they managed in their first 17 games of the campaign.
