6 - Rangers thrashed Ross County 6-0 at Hampden to make it seven points from their opening three William Hill Premiership fixtures. Doubles from Cyriel Dessers and Rabbi Matondo plus goals from Tom Lawrence and Danilo handed the Light Blues their biggest win at the national stadium since they defeated Dundee United 7-1 in the 2005 League Cup semi-final. Dessers took his tally to five goals from six matches this season and has now scored 27 times in 60 appearances since joining Rangers last summer. Rangers have still never lost a home fixture against the Staggies - in 12 meetings in Glasgow they have picked up 10 wins and two draws.
8 - Aberdeen maintained their perfect start to the season by defeating Kilmarnock 2-0 at Pittodrie in the William Hill Premiership. Two goals from Pape Gueye helped the Dons to victory as new boss Jimmy Thelin made it eight wins out of eight since taking over in the summer. Thelin is just the ninth manager in Scottish football history to win his first eight competitive matches in charge of a Scottish League club - he joins Bobby Ancell (Motherwell), George Burley (Hearts), David Martindale (Livingston), Billy McNeill (Celtic), Martin O'Neill (Celtic), Hugh Shaw (Hibernian), Bill Struth (Rangers), Mark Warburton (Rangers). Thelin is still four wins short of equalling the Scottish record of 12 in a row set by Martin O'Neill when he took over at Celtic in 2000. The Dons have won eight of their last 10 matches against Killie at Pittodrie, losing just once.
41 – Falkirk defeated Partick Thistle 2-1 at the Falkirk Stadium to maintain their perfect start to the William Hill Championship season. A late Brad Spencer winner handed John McGlynn’s side all three points after Liam Henderson’s opener had been cancelled out. The Bairns are now unbeaten in an incredible 41 league matches, a run which stretches back to April 2023 and includes 32 wins and nine draws. This is the third longest unbeaten run in Scottish League history – the only two longer were both set by Celtic, a 62 game unbeaten run from 1915-1917 and a 56 game run from 2016-2017. Falkirk have three wins out of three in this season’s Championship – this is the first time they’ve won their opening three matches of a league season since their 2002/03 Division 1 title winning campaign.
8 – Alloa Athletic continued their unbeaten start to the William Hill League 1 season with a 1-0 victory over Annan Athletic at Galabank. Stefan Scougall’s early goal was enough to give Andy Graham’s side the victory and move them level with Kelty Hearts at the top of the table. The Wasps are now unbeaten in their last eight matches against the Galabankies in all competitions, a run which stretches back to January 2012. This is the first time since 2016/17 that Alloa have avoided defeat in their opening four league matches of the season.
3 – East Fife thumped Stirling Albion 4-0 at Forthbank to climb up to second in the William Hill League 2 table. A Nathan Austin hat-trick plus a goal from Reis Peggie gave Dick Campbell’s side their fourth consecutive victory in all competitions. Austin was the Fifers’ top goalscorer last season with 16 in total, and has continued that form into this season with has seven goals in eight matches in all competitions. Saturday’s hat-trick was Austin’s sixth for the club – he also did so against Threave Rovers in October 2014, Elgin City in March 2015 (4 goals), Montrose in September 2015, Stirling Albion (also at Forthbank) in December 2015 and Elgin City in July 2023.
