4 – Motherwell defeated Dundee United 2-1 at Fir Park to seal their spot in the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals. Zach Robinson’s opener was cancelled out by Louis Moult, but Lennon Miller’s dramatic late penalty sent Stuart Kettlewell’s side to Hampden. Motherwell have now won four of their last five matches in all competitions. This will be Motherwell’s first semi-final since the 2017/18 campaign, when they made it to the final of both the Premier Sports Cup and Scottish Cup. The Steelmen will face Rangers in the semi, with Celtic taking on Aberdeen in the other fixture.
5 – St Mirren climbed to 5th in the William Hill Premiership table thanks to a 2-1 victory over Heart of Midlothian at the SMISA Stadium. Toyosi Olusanya netted the winner for Stephen Robinson’s side to secure their second league victory of the season, with both coming against the Edinburgh sides. Olusanya has now scored in each of his last three matches, taking his tally to four Premiership goals – only Pape Gueye has scored more. The 26-year-old striker now has six goals in all competitions, which is just one short of his tally for the entirety of last season.
1 – Greenock Morton defeated Airdrieonians 2-0 at Cappielow to climb off the bottom of the William Hill Championship. Goals from Zak Delaney and Cammy Ballantyne helped Dougie Imrie’s side pick up their first league win of the season. Delaney’s goal was his first in Scottish football – he had previously played 71 times for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Arbroath and Morton without finding the net. Morton are now in sixth place in the division, two points off the promotion play-offs and two ahead of the relegation play-offs.
99 – Alloa Athletic moved a point clear at the top of the William Hill League 1 table thanks to a 1-0 victory over Kelty Hearts at the Indodrill Stadium. A goal from substitute Conor Sammon was enough to hand Andy Graham’s side all three points and extend their unbeaten start to the league season. This is the Wasps’ longest unbeaten start to a league season since 1999/00, when Terry Christie’s side also went seven without defeat on their way to securing promotion from the third tier. Sammon’s goal was his 99th across his career in Scottish football – his first came 16 years ago, when he netted a double for Kilmarnock against Aberdeen in the League Cup in September 2008.
1 – Forfar Athletic defeated Stranraer 2-1 at Station Park to pick up their first win of their William Hill League 2 campaign. Goals from Nathan Cannon and Blair Malcolm were enough to see Ray McKinnon’s side come from behind to take all three points and move themselves level on points with the Blues and Edinburgh City at the foot of the table. The Loons are now unbeaten in their last seven matches against Stranraer, and have lost just once in the last 17 meetings in all competitions.
