3 – Hibernian defeated Aberdeen 3-1 at Pittodrie to climb to eighth in the William Hill Premiership table. David Gray’s side came from behind to win for the second consecutive week thanks to goals from Elie Youan, Nicky Cadden and Martin Boyle. The Hibees have won three of their last four games, and have scored three goals in four of their last five. Hibs are unbeaten in their last four away matches against Aberdeen – they have won two and drawn two since their last defeat back in November 2022. However, this is the first time in 30 years that they have scored three goals in a game at Pittodrie – the last time was back in March 1994, when two goals from Keith Wright and one from Steven Tweed handed them a 3-2 victory.
8 – Heart of Midlothian climbed off the foot of the William Hill Premiership thanks to a 2-1 victory over St Johnstone at Tynecastle. James Penrice and Blair Spittal scored the goals for Neil Critchley’s side as they moved up to 10th in the table and sent their opponents bottom. The Jam Tarts have now recorded eight consecutive wins over Saints, with their last defeat coming at McDiarmid Park in February 2022. This is their longest ever winning run in this fixture, overtaking the seven in a row they achieved from 1977-1981.
5 – Ayr United defeated Livingston 1-0 at the Home of the Set Fare Arena in a crucial match at the top of the William Hill Championship. George Oakley’s first-half goal was enough to hand Scott Brown’s side all three points, keeping them seven points behind leaders Falkirk and moving them to within two of Livi in 2nd. The Honest Men have been spreading the goals around this season - Oakley’s goal made him one of three Ayr United players to have scored five league goals, alongside Anton Dowds and Jay Henderson. Scott Brown’s side have won five of their last six matches in all competitions, with the only blip being a narrow defeat to Partick Thistle in Glasgow a fortnight ago.
4 – Arbroath remain top of William Hill League 1 thanks to an emphatic 4-0 victory over Annan Athletic at Galabank. Two goals from Gavin Reilly and one apiece from Fraser Taylor and Innes Murray ensured that the Red Lichties remain two points clear of Kelty Hearts at the summit. Arbroath have taken 30 points from 15 league games since Colin Hamilton and David Gold took over in late August. This is Arbroath’s biggest away win in over five years – the last time they won by a margin of four or more away from home was a 6-1 victory over Stirling Albion in the League Cup group stages in July 2019 – both Hamilton and Gold were on the scoresheet in this victory.
6 – Edinburgh City defeated Elgin City 1-0 at Meadowbank Stadium to move to within six points of the top of William Hill League 2. A James Stokes goal was enough to hand Michael McIndoe’s side all three points – they now sit in fourth place, but have a game in hand on the three sides above them in what looks like a hotly-contested title race. The Citizens have picked up five wins and a draw in their last six league games – this is their best run of form since March-April 2021. City have kept clean sheets in five of these matches – indeed goalkeeper Mark Weir has kept seven in the league this season, two more than any other keeper in the division.
