55 – Celtic secured the William Hill Premiership title thanks to a 5-0 victory over Dundee United at Tannadice. Doubles from Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah, plus a Ryan Strain own goal, ensured the Hoops wrapped up a fourth consecutive league championship with four games to spare. Celtic have now been champions of Scotland on 55 occasions, bringing them level with Rangers – they had trailed their city rivals since the Light Blues made it 18-17 in 1929/30. Brendan Rodgers secured his fourth Premiership title in four full seasons as Celtic manager across his two spells. Saturday’s success was the 12th time this season that Celtic have scored five or more goals in a game in all competitions – they have netted a whopping 148 goals in all competitions.
1 – Aberdeen defeated Hibernian 1-0 at Pittodrie to boost their hopes of a third-place finish in the William Hill Premiership. Kevin Nisbet scored the only goal of the game in spectacular fashion against his former club to move Jimmy Thelin’s side level on points with their opponents. The Dons are now unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions, winning five and drawing three since losing to Celtic in late February. Aberdeen had previously won just one of their last nine league matches against Hibs and hadn’t beaten them at Pittodrie since November 2022. Nisbet’s goal was his 10th of the season in the league – he is just the second Scottish player in the last 15 years to reach that tally for the Dons, the other being Lewis Ferguson with 11 in 2021/22.
10 – Partick Thistle secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Falkirk at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill on Friday to take a huge step towards securing a top-four spot in the William Hill Championship. Brian Graham’s early goal was cancelled out before half-time but Terry Ablade scored a last-gasp winner for the Jags, who had played almost an hour with 10 men. Thistle are now two points ahead of Raith Rovers in the final play-off spot, and their four-goal advantage on goal difference means a draw away to title-chasing Livingston on Friday may be enough. The Jags are now unbeaten in their last 10 home league matches against the Bairns – Falkirk’s last win was back in April 2011, when Blair Alston and Carl Finnigan netted in a 2-1 victory.
5 – Queen of the South defeated Stenhousemuir 2-0 at Palmerston to confirm their place in the top four of William Hill League 1. Goals from Fraser Bryden and Harry Cochrane were enough to move Peter Murphy’s side four points clear of their opponents with just one game remaining. The Doonhamers have hit form at the right time, picking up five consecutive wins to surge into the play-off spots – this is the first time they have won five league games in a row since August-September 2016 under Gavin Skelton. Queens are unbeaten in their last eight games against the Warriors in Dumfries – they have seven wins and a draw since their last defeat in April 2001.
3 – Peterhead clinched the William Hill League 2 title thanks to a 1-0 victory over East Fife at Balmoor. Peter Pawlett’s first-half goal was enough to seal the Blue Toon’s return to League 1 after two years in the fourth tier. Peterhead have become the most successful club in fourth-tier history – this is the third time they have won the title, having also done so in 2013/14 and 2018/19. Jordon Brown and Ryan Strachan have built their success around the strongest defence in the division – the Blue Toon have conceded just 34 goals in 35 games and have kept clean sheets in eight of their last 10 league matches.
