7 – Kilmarnock defeated Dundee United 2-1 at the BBSP Stadium, Rugby Park to progress to the quarter-finals of the Premier Sports Cup. Goals from Marcus Dackers and Brad Lyons were enough to continue Stuart Kettlewell’s unbeaten start – Killie have four wins and three draws in seven matches so far this season. The Ayrshire side are unbeaten in their last seven matches against United in all competitions – they have five wins and two draws since a 4-0 defeat at Tannadice in November 2022. The victory sets up a quarter-final clash against St Mirren in Ayrshire with both sides just one win away from Hampden.

20 – Aberdeen reached the last eight of the Premier Sports Cup thanks to a 3-0 victory over Greenock Morton at Cappielow. Sivert Heltne Nilsen, Kusini Yengi and Leighton Clarkson were all on the scoresheet for the Jimmy Thelin’s side as they picked up their first victory of the season. The Dons are unbeaten in their last 20 matches against Morton in all competitions, winning 17 and drawing three – their last defeat was back in April 1982, with Jim Rooney and John McNeil scoring in a 2-1 win over Alex Ferguson’s side. Aberdeen have won 12 of their 13 cup ties under Thelin, with the only loss coming in last season’s League Cup semi against Celtic at Hampden. Aberdeen will now face Motherwell at Pittodrie in this season’s quarter-final.

5 – Partick Thistle defeated Ayr United 2-0 at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill to ensure that they are the only William Hill Championship side in the last eight of the Premier Sports Cup. Dan O’Reilly and Tony Watt hit a quickfire double before half-time to make it five wins out of five Mark Wilson’s side so far in this season’s competition. The last time Thistle won five or more matches in a single season in the League Cup was exactly 50 years ago, when they won all six group stage matches and also the first leg of their quarter-final v Clydebank, before eventually losing a semi-final to Celtic at Hampden. Celtic will again lie in wait for the Jags this season – they will welcome the holders to Firhill for the quarter-final next month.

1 – Stenhousemuir made it three wins in a week by beating Inverness Caledonian Thistle 2-1 at the Caledonian Stadium in William Hill League 1. The Warriors conceded first, but Matty Aitken quickly equalised and Ross Taylor’s late winner secured all three points for Gary Naysmith’s side. This was Stenhousemuir’s first ever away win against the Caley Jags – they had one draw and four defeats on five previous visits to the Caledonian Stadium. Indeed, their only previous victory over Inverness was back in August 1997 in the first ever league meeting of the two clubs.

5 – Forfar Athletic beat Stirling Albion 4-2 at the Alpha Project Stadium at Station Park to move to the top of William Hill League 2. Doubles from Martin Rennie and Ross MacLean made it two wins and a draw in three league matches for Jim Weir’s side. The Loons have won four and drawn one of their last five matches in all competitions – the last time they went five or more without defeat was back in January-March 2024. Forfar are unbeaten in their last five home matches against Stirling Albion – the Binos’ last win at Station Park was back in September 2022.
