2 – Dundee United beat Dundee 2-0 at Dens Park to climb to fourth place in the William Hill Premiership. Goals from Zac Sapsford and Ivan Dolcek handed Jim Goodwin’s side their first league win of the season and secured bragging rights in the city. Dolcek is the Premiership’s top goalscorer at this early stage, having scored four times in three league matches. United have three wins and a draw in their last four visits to Dens Park in the league - their last league defeat was in May 2016, although they have lost cup ties since then.
1 – Falkirk recorded their first win of the William Hill Premiership campaign by defeating Aberdeen 1-0 at Pittodrie. Debutant Kyrell Wilson scored the only goal of the game to take John McGlynn’s side on to four points from three matches. This was the Bairns’ first top-flight win since April 2010, when they beat St Mirren 2-1 thanks to Pedro Moutinho and a Michael Higdon own goal. Falkirk also won 1-0 at Pittodrie in their last top-flight season, with Colin Healy scoring the goal in February 2010.
9 – Partick Thistle defeated Raith Rovers 3-2 at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill in the William Hill Championship to continue their unbeaten home start to the season. Tony Watt and Aidan Fitzpatrick helped Thistle race into a 2-0 lead, and although they were pegged back to 2-2, Logan Chalmers scored with 15 minutes remaining to secure victory. This ended Thistle’s run of nine league matches without a win over Rovers – they had drawn five and lost four since their last victory back in March 2023. Mark Wilson’s side have seven wins and a draw from nine matches in all competitions so far this season, with the only blemish being a defeat to league leaders St Johnstone.
20 – Inverness Caledonian Thistle climbed into the top four of William Hill League 1 thanks to a 1-0 victory over Alloa Athletic at the Sarens PSG Stadium. Liam Sole scored the only goal of the game to make it four wins out of five for Scott Kellacher’s side – despite their five-point deduction they are now just three points off the top of the table. The Caley Jags are now unbeaten in their last 20 home matches against the Wasps in all competitions, a run which stretches back over three decades. Alloa’s last win in Inverness was in the Challenge Cup back in August 1995, when Barrie Moffat and Danny Diver scored in a 2-1 victory at Telford Street.
4 – East Kilbride thumped Forfar Athletic 5-0 at The Ross Commercial Finance K-Park Stadium to move to the top of William Hill League 2. Cami Elliott scored four times and Nathan Flanagan added another to make it four wins out of five for Mick Kennedy’s side. Elliott is the first player to scored four goals in a League 2 match since Kane Hester netted five for Elgin City against Annan Athletic in January 2022. Jake Dolzanski was in that Elgin side but was on the receiving end on Saturday as part of the Forfar Athletic defence. Kilby have won six games in a row in all competitions since losing to Spartans on the opening day of the League 2 season.
