7 – Ayr United defeated Raith Rovers 2-0 at Stark’s Park to move into the top four of the William Hill Championship. First-half goals from Mark McKenzie and Jamie Murphy were enough to see Scott Brown’s side move ahead of their opponents on goal difference. McKenzie has been in fantastic form – he has scored four goals in his last four games, matching his tally for the entirety of last season. The Honest Men are unbeaten in seven matches, winning three and drawing four – their only defeat so far in the league came in the reverse fixture against Rovers at Somerset Park back in August.
4 – Arbroath climbed to third place in the William Hill Championship thanks to a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Queen’s Park at Gayfield. Gavin Reilly, Taylor Steven, Ryan Dow and Findlay Marshall were all on the scoresheet for the Red Lichties as they picked up their first win in five. Arbroath ended a run of four consecutive home defeats to the Spiders – their last win in this fixture came in January 2018. David Gold’s and Colin Hamilton’s side have lost just one of their last 14 home matches in all competitions – that came against Dunfermline Athletic last month.
9 – Stenhousemuir defeated Motherwell B 4-0 at Ochilview to make it five wins out of five in the KDM Evolution Trophy League Phase. Gregor Buchanan, Dale Carrick, Matty Aitken and Finlay Gray were all on the scoresheet for Gary Naysmith’s side as they continued their impressive start to the campaign. The Warriors are now unbeaten in nine home matches in all competitions – they have won seven and drawn two since losing to Alloa Athletic on the opening day of the league season. This is their longest unbeaten run at home since August-December 2011 – next time out they have the chance to make it into double figures for the first time since 1995.
4 – Montrose made it five wins out of five in the KDM Evolution Trophy League Phase by defeating The Spartans 3-1 at Links Park. Ryan Williamson, Lewis Gibson and Kyle McClements scored the goals for Stewart Petrie’s side as they came out on top on the first ever meeting between these sides. It was McClements’ first goal for the Gable Endies – the youngster made his debut in this competition back in August. Montrose have recorded five consecutive home wins in all competitions – this is the first time they have done so since January-March 2020.
4 – Annan Athletic defeated Hamilton Academical 2-1 at Broadwood to boost their chances of making it to the next round of the KDM Evolution Trophy. Josh Dixon and Scott Hooper scored inside the last ten minutes as Willie Gibson’s side came from behind to secure their second victory of the league phase. This was the Galabankies’ fourth consecutive win over Accies in cup competitions, despite being in a lower division on all four occasions – they also beat them in the Scottish Cup in 2015/16 and the League Cup in both 2018/19 and 2020/21. After a slow start to the season, Annan have now recorded four consecutive victories in all competitions – the last time they did this was back in March 2022.
