37 – Dundee defeated Celtic 2-0 at Dens Park to move out of the bottom two in the William Hill Premiership. A goal from Clark Robertson and a Cameron Carter-Vickers own goal handed Steven Pressley’s side their second victory of the season to climb to 9th in the table. Robertson’s goal was his first in the Scottish top flight – the 32-year-old had previously played 86 SPL/Premiership matches for Aberdeen and Dundee without finding the net. This was Dundee’s first home win over Celtic in 37 years – their last success came in September 1988, when Tommy Coyne scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory. Since then, the Dees had hosted Celtic 35 times, drawing eight and losing 27.
3 – Heart of Midlothian moved 5 points clear at the top of the William Hill Premiership thanks to a 3-0 victory over Kilmarnock at the BBSP Stadium, Rugby Park. Craig Halkett opened the scoring before a Claudio Braga double ensured a comprehensive victory for Derek McInnes on his return to Ayrshire. The Jam Tarts have seven wins and a draw from their opening eight league matches, and have scored three or more goals in four of them. They have kept four consecutive clean sheets in the league for the first time since their promotion back to the top flight in 2021. This was Hearts’ biggest away win over Killie since they beat them by the same scoreline in December 2000, with Steve Fulton and Andy Kirk (2) on the scoresheet.
40 – Arbroath defeated St Johnstone 3-1 at Gayfield to move to within six points of the top of the William Hill Championship. The Red Lichties trailed at half-time, but a double from Findlay Marshall and a goal from Gavin Reilly inflicted Saints’ first league defeat of the season. Marshall has scored four goals in his last three matches, and six in total in the league – only Saints attacker Josh McPake has scored more in the Championship this season. This was Arbroath’s first win over St Johnstone in over 40 years – their last win came back in August 1985, when Kenny Taylor scored a late winner in a 1-0 victory. David Gold’s and Colin Hamilton’s side have lost just one of their last 13 home league matches – they have eight wins and four draws, with the only defeat coming against Dunfermline Athletic last month.
1 – Peterhead climbed to fifth in William Hill League 1 courtesy of a 3-0 win over Queen of the South at Balmoor. Kieran Shanks, Craig McGuffie and Jason Brown were all on target for the Blue Toon as they recorded their third consecutive league win. Shanks has scored in seven of Peterhead’s 10 home matches in all competitions this season. This was Peterhead’s first ever victory over Queen of the South – they had lost all eight previous competitive meetings with the Doonhamers with an aggregate scoreline of 24-4.
3 – East Kilbride defeated Elgin City 3-0 at K-Park to keep themselves just three points off the top of William Hill League 2. An early double from Connor Young plus a Nathan Flanagan goal were enough to hand Mick Kennedy’s side their first win in five league matches. Young has three goals in three matches since joining Kilby on loan from Dunfermline Athletic. This was East Kilbride’s third win over Elgin this season already – they beat them 4-1 in the Premier Sports Cup in July and 1-0 in the league in August.
