2 – St Mirren won the Premier Sports Cup thanks to a 3-1 victory over Celtic at Barclays Hampden. Marcus Fraser opened the scoring then a double from Jonah Ayunga ensured that Stephen Robinson and his side took the trophy back to Paisley. This is the Saints’ second League Cup success, having also won it in 2012/13 – they are just the 10th team to win the trophy more than once. It is the fifth major honour in the club’s history – they also won the Scottish Cup in 1925/26 (also beating Celtic in the final), 1958/59 and 1986/87. Ayunga is just the second player in the last decade to score more than one goal in the final, the other was Kyogo Furuhashi, who did so in both 2021/22 and 2022/23. Saints striker Mikael Mandron finished as the top scorer in this season’s competition, scoring seven goals in total including a hat-trick against Annan Athletic in the group stage, and a double in the semi-final against Motherwell.

6 – Heart of Midlothian defeated Falkirk 2-0 at the Falkirk Stadium to move six points clear at the top of the William Hill Premiership. Claudio Braga and Stephen Kingsley scored the goals for Derek McInnes’ side as they recorded their second away win in less than a week. Braga moved on to eight Premiership goals, making him joint top goalscorer in the division alongside strike partner Lawrence Shankland and Motherwell’s Tawanda Maswanhise. Hearts have 38 points from their opening 17 league fixtures – since three points for a win was introduced in 1994/95, they have only once had a higher tally at this stage in a top-flight season, that was 40 points in 2005/06.

6 – Raith Rovers thrashed Ross County 6-0 at Stark’s Park to move up to sixth place in the William Hill Championship. Two goals from Dylan Easton and one apiece from Scott Brown, Jai Rowe, Paul Nsio and Jack Hamilton handed Dougie Imrie his first league win as Rovers boss. Raith have picked up three wins and a draw in all competitions since Imrie took over – he beat Alloa Athletic in the Scottish Cup and Hamilton Academical in the KDM Evolution Trophy and drew away to league leaders St Johnstone in his only other league match. This was Rovers’ first league win by six or more goals in over 33 years, since they defeated St Mirren 7-0 on the opening day of the 1992/93 season. Raith had lost each of their five previous matches against County, including a 5-0 thumping in Dingwall in 2018.

4 – Queen of the South moved into the top four of William Hill League 1 thanks to a 2-0 victory over Alloa Athletic at the Indodrill Stadium. Goals from Kurtis Guthrie and Liam Smith handed Peter Murphy’s side their first win in five matches, moving them to within three points of their opponents who sit in second. The Doonhamers are now unbeaten in eight matches with the Wasps – they have picked up four wins and four draws since Alloa’s last win back in November 2023.

13 – Clyde defeated Edinburgh City 4-1 at Meadowbank Stadium to move just two points off the top of William Hill League 2. A Kyle Connell double plus goals from Kyle Fleming and Marley Redfern helped Darren Young’s side close the gap on both East Kilbride and Spartans. The Bully Wee are now unbeaten in 13 league matches – this is their best run in 22 years, since Alan Kernaghan led them to 14 without defeat from March-August 2003. Clyde had lost on each of their last four league visits to Meadowbank, although they did win 5-0 there in the 2024/25 Premier Sports Cup group stage.
