10 – Dundee beat Motherwell 2-1 at Dens Park to take a massive step towards securing their William Hill Premiership safety. Goals from Tony Yogane and Finlay Robertson helped Steven Pressley’s side move 10 points clear of 11th-placed Kilmarnock with just nine matches remaining. It was just the second league goal for Robertson in over 100 appearances for Dundee and Cove Rangers – he also found the net in their 2-1 home defeat to Hibernian in August. The Dees have three wins and two draws in their last six home matches, with their only defeat coming against leaders Heart of Midlothian.
18 – St Johnstone extended their lead at the top of the William Hill Championship thanks to a 2-0 victory over Greenock Morton at Cappielow. Late goals from Reece McAlear and Liam Smith secured a crucial victory which moves Simo Valakari’s side eight points clear of Partick Thistle, having played one game more. This was the first time this year that St Johnstone had recorded back-to-back league victories – the last time was in December and those were also against Ayr United and Morton. Saints are now unbeaten in their last 18 matches against Morton in all competitions, winning 13 and drawing five since their last defeat in a Challenge Cup tie back in September 2006.
9 – Inverness Caledonian Thistle moved two points clear at the top of William Hill League 1 courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Montrose at the Sarens PSG Stadium. Late goals from Alfie Bavidge and Jordan Alonge sealed an important win after Billy Mckay’s opener had been cancelled out. Scott Kellacher’s side are unbeaten in nine league matches in 2026, after having lost their final two games of last year. Inverness have now scored 99 goals in all competitions this season – they have already smashed their previous club record of 92 in a season.
11 – Dumbarton beat Spartans 3-0 at the Marbill Coaches Stadium to secure their first victory of 2026. Gordon Walker, Leighton McIntosh and Scott Honeyman were all on the scoresheet as Frank McKeown’s side ended a run of 11 matches without a win in all competitions. The victory keeps the Sons two points clear of Edinburgh City at the foot of William Hill League 2, with a game in hand. Four of Dumbarton’s seven league wins this season have come against the top three – this was their second win over Spartans and they also have a win apiece against East Kilbride and Clyde.
17 – Dunfermline Athletic defeated Aberdeen 3-0 at East End Park to book their first Scottish Cup semi-final for 17 years. Matty Todd opened the scoring before a double from Olly Thomas secured a comfortable victory for Neil Lennon’s side against their William Hill Premiership opponents. Lennon is set to become just the fourth manager to manage three different clubs in Scottish Cup semi-final, joining Bob Shankly (Third Lanark, Dundee, Hibernian), Davie White (Clyde, Rangers, Dundee) and Tommy McLean (Motherwell, Heart of Midlothian, Dundee United). This was Aberdeen’s biggest ever Scottish Cup defeat to lower-league opposition – the only time they had previously been beaten by more than one goal was a 2-0 defeat to Stenhousemuir in 1995.
1 – Falkirk defeated Dundee United 2-1 on Friday night to set up a Scottish Cup semi-final against Dunfermline Athletic. This was the Bairns’ first ever win over United in the competition – the Terrors had won both previous meetings, in 1965/66 and 1966/67. The other semi-final will see Celtic face St Mirren. The Hoops defeated Rangers on penalties following a 0-0 draw – this was the first ever shoot-out between the clubs at Ibrox. Each of the last four meetings of the sides at Ibrox have finished in draws – the teams had never previously drawn more than three in a row in Govan. St Mirren sealed their spot in the semi with a 2-1 win over Partick Thistle on Sunday night – this was their first win over the Jags in the competition since 1964. This is the first time in their history that Saints have reached a final and a semi-final in the two major cup competitions in the same season.
