Elgin gained ground in the title race

Elgin City gained ground in the William Hill League 2 title race after a 3-0 home triumph over Bonnyrigg Rose on Tuesday night.

Kane Hester opened the scoring on 22 minutes with Jake Dolzanski doubling their advantage just before the hour mark.

Hester grabbed a second for the hosts to complete the scoring 11 minutes from time to leave City five points off the leaders with one game in hand.

Blair Henderson helped himself to a double as The Spartans ran out 3-1 winners at Stirling Albion.

The striker scored either side of a Jamie Dishington effort to put the men from the capital in control, with Dale Carrick pulling one back for the Binos five minutes from full time.

Dougie Samuel's team remain in the hunt for a promotion play-off spot with Peterhead, Elgin and Edinburgh City currently occupying those spots.
