Wilson ends his stay at Alloa

Winger opts to leave Recreation Park due to injury

Dougie WilsonWinger Dougie ‘Jinky’ Wilson has decided to end his time at Alloa due to an ankle injury and he has been praised for his action by Recreation Park boss Allan Maitland. The 26 year old had his ankle shattered in a game against Raith Rovers when he was tackled by Stephen Simmons in April 2009 and after missing all of last season Wilson made his comeback this pre-season and did well enough to earn another deal at the Wasps.

However the former Stirling Albion player was in so much pain after playing from the start against Airdrie United last month that he has decided to end his time at the Recreation Park club.

Maitland said, “The Airdrie game was the first game Dougie had started in this season and it took him two days to recover from it. He was in a lot of pain and he came to see me last week and asked to be released which we disappointingly had to agree to.”

“Dougie could have stayed here and taken a wage for the rest of the season but he has put the club first which is a fantastic gesture. He has been playing recently at Stirling University where he is studying and I hope that he can carry on doing that for as long as he wishes to.”
