Classic Match! St Johnstone 1-0 Dundee (23/5/99) | SPFL Classics

St Johnstone qualified for Europe for the first time since 1971 as they beat Tayside rivals Dundee 1-0 at a sold-out McDiarmid Park on the final day of the 1998/99 SPL season, leapfrogging Kilmarnock into third position. Saints legend Alan Main kept his side's hopes alive with some brilliant goalkeeping before Paul Kane scored the crucial opening goal for the hosts with less than 20 minutes remaining. With Kilmarnock only able to secure a draw against Rangers at Ibrox, Sandy Clark's men held on to snatch the UEFA Cup berth amid scenes of wild celebrations at McDiarmid Park.
