Classic Match! Falkirk 4-5 Celtic (19/09/1992)

A quite remarkable game took place at Brockville in mid-September of 1992, with Falkirk and Celtic playing out an incredible 9-goal thriller!

Falkirk took the lead thanks to a Tommy McQueen penalty - with Tony Mowbray sent off for handling the ball on the line. However Celtic would strike back almost immediately with a penalty of their own, Dariusz Wdowczyk the scorer. The 10-men of Celtic then took the lead just after the break through Gerry Creaney, but Falkirk would make their 1-man advantage count soon after.

Ian McCall scored 2 and Eddie May curled in a free-kick - 3 goals in 13 minutes for the Bairns - to give them a commanding 4-2 lead. The drama didn't end there though. Falkirk were reduced to 10-men as well, and Celtic went on the ascendancy. Andy Payton got a goal back before Gerry Creaney hit his 2nd of the game to level the scores.

It was set up perfectly for a blockbuster finish and it didn't disappoint! In the 89th-minute the Hoops were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box. John Collins' initial strike was blocked by the wall, but it sat up perfectly for him to thunder home from 20 yards and send the Celtic support wild.
