It’s Decision Day in the cinch Premiership with just 90 minutes remaining to decide who will claim the league’s two remaining top six spots and set up the thrilling five-game conclusion to the campaign.
We kick off GW33 at Tynecastle as Steven Naismith’s Heart of Midlothian side look to build some momentum before a final push for European football. They host Ross County in Saturday’s live lunchtime match on Sky. Last weekend’s results saw the Staggies fall to the foot of the table, and they’ll need a big display in the capital to improve that position.
League leaders Celtic have the cinch Premiership title in their sights, and they can take another step towards retaining their crown when they welcome Motherwell to Celtic Park in the first of four Saturday 3pm kick offs. Both league meetings this term have been decided by a single goal with Japanese duo Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda making the difference.
Saturday’s three remaining matches all feature the top six chasers.
You can read about the possible top six permutations involving St. Mirren, Hibernian and Livingston.
St. Mirren know that a top six spot will be secure if they can overcome a Kilmarnock side still searching for their first away Premiership win of the season. It’s set to be a sell out at The SMiSA Stadium and after two 0-0s between the teams so far – let’s hope for goals this time around.
Hibernian hold the final top six berth as they head to Perth to take on a St. Johnstone side under the watch of interim manager Steven MacLean for the first time. Saints are aiming to halt a run of one point from a possible 15 while the Hibees are still on a high following last weekend’s derby triumph.
Livingston sit in seventh ahead of their journey to Tannadice to face a rejuvenated Dundee United, who have recorded back-to-back wins in recent weeks. Cristian Montano’s goal proved to be the winner in the last Tannadice encounter with the sides drawing in West Lothian back in March.
Sunday’s showpiece match sees Aberdeen and Rangers go head-to-head in front of the Sky cameras at Pittodrie. Barry Robson has masterminded a run of six successive league wins for the Dons while Rangers responded to their first league defeat under Michael Beale by firing five past St. Mirren last time out.
