Don Cowie has been named as interim manager of Ross County, the cinch Premiership club has announced.
The 40-year-old steps up from his position as assistant to Derek Adams, who resigned following the 5-0 defeat to Motherwell at Fir Park.
Cowie, who was also part of the club's coaching staff under Malky Mackay, will aim to secure the club's top flight status with the team sitting in 11th place in the league.
A popular player with the Staggies, Cowie enjoyed a career in the English leagues with Watford, Cardiff City and Wigan Athletic before returning north to County after two seasons with Hearts.
His first league game in charge is against Rangers on February 14.
