Dundee promoted to Premiership

Dark Blues defeat Kilmarnock 2-1 on the night and 4-2 on aggregate

Dundee have been promoted to the Scottish Premiership after beating Kilmarnock in the play-off final on Monday evening.

James McPake's men led 2-1 from the first leg on Thursday night and again triumphed 2-1 at the BBSP Stadium, Rugby Park, to secure a 4-2 aggregate success.

Danny Mullen opened the scoring after just seven minutes and Dundee Player of the Year Lee Ashcroft headed home the second goal from a corner five minutes later. Kyle Lafferty pulled one back from the penalty spot in 69 minutes but the visitors comfortably held on.

The Dark Blues can now look forward to life in the top flight come the new season on July 31 while Kilmarnock will be playing at Championship level for the first time since 1992/93.
