Former Aberdeen striker Darren Mackie is set to return to action for Highland League side Turriff United early into the new season after having extensive treatment on a groin injury.
The 32-year-old ended a 14-year association with the Dons in 2012 when he moved on to American side Phoenix FC with that move ending last autumn when Mackie returned home and joined the Haughs club.
The groin injury meant that the speedy front man failed to make an impression at Turriff however recently appointed manager Ross Jack reckons that is set to change.
The former Elgin City boss said: “Darren had an injection last week to aid his recovery and it appears to have gone well. We are hoping that he will be available come August which is great news as he can be a very important player for us.”
