Hat-trick for Hartley

New Aberdeen skipper Paul Hartley enjoyed a dream debut for the Dons with a hat-trick of penalties as Hamilton Accies were beaten 4-0 at Pittodrie on the opening day of the new season. Defender Zander Diamond was also on target for Mark McGhee's men as they started in style.

Rangers unfurled the championship flag before overcoming Kilmarnock 2-1 at Ibrox thanks to goals from Kenny Miller and Steven Naismith. Jamie Hamill pulled one back from the spot.

Earlier in the day, a stunning Paddy McCourt goal earned Celtic a 1-0 win away to promoted Inverness CT. The winger struck early in the second half for Neil Lennon's men.

Jon Daly grabbed a last-minute equaliser as Dundee United denied new St Mirren boss Danny Lennon a debut success. Sean Lynch fired Saints in front but they couldn't hold on.

Hearts and St Johnstone shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at Tynecastle. Calum Elliot gave Jim Jefferies' side the lead in the 45th minute but Sam Parkin hauled the Perth men level immediately. Saints had Steven Anderson sent off 15 minutes from time but Hearts couldn't take advantage.
