McKenna was with Celtic as a youngster and was playing in the United States before joining the Bairns last season.
Chairman Allan Maitland told the club website: "He’s in his early twenties so he’s the perfect age we’re looking at just now, with bringing in a slightly younger team. Ciaran has the right attitude and I feel he will do well here at Hamilton."
