THE SCOTTISH COMMUNITIES LEAGUE CUP FINAL OFFICIAL MATCHDAY PROGRAMME

The Scottish Football League has produced a bumper 68 page A4 size Matchday Programme for Sunday’s Scottish Communities League Cup Final between Celtic and Kilmarnock.

Scottish Communities League Cup Final 2012 Matchday MagazineThe Matchday Programme has extensive coverage of both finalists including exclusive interviews with the Celtic management team of Neil Lennon and Johan Mjallby and the Kilmarnock management team of Kenny Shiels  and Jimmy Nicholl.  In addition, there are various interviews with a number of the players who will feature at Hampden on Sunday including Celtic defenders Charlie Mulgrew and Thomas Rogne, midfielder Joe Ledley, who scored in last season’s League Cup Final, and strikers Gary Hooper and Georgios Samaras, whilst in the Kilmarnock camp, there are interviews with long servants Garry Hay & James Fowler, defenders Ben Gordon and Michael Nelson as well as Killie’s Dean Shiels and James Dayton.  We also hear the views of the respective club captains, Scott Brown and Manuel Pascali, the latter who, of course, misses Sunday’s Cup Final due to injury.

There are also a number of fascinating articles taking a trip down memory lane with former Celtic and Kilmarnock players including George McCluskey and John Sludden, former Scotland internationalist goalkeeper, Ally Hunter, Kilmarnock’s record appearance holder, Alan Robertson, and another Killie stalwart Jim Clark, former Celt Mark Burchill, who also played for Kilmarnock for a season, Kevin McGowne and Gary Holt, who both played in the Killie team that won the Scottish Cup in 1997 and Lewis Toshney, who is currently on loan to Kilmarnock from Celtic.

There are also highly entertaining profiles by Anthony Stokes and Gary Harkins on their respective team-mates and in addition, other features include articles on the match officials, a detailed report on the round by round Road to Hampden, detailed statistical information as well as a number of action packed photographs.  There are also several historical features including an article looking at the careers of Tommy Burns and Willie Fernie, who were involved with both Cup Finalists, as well as tracing all of the managers that have been involved in the 65 previous League Cup Finals since the competitions inception in season 1946/47.

Sunday’s Official Matchday Programme is available BOTH OUTSIDE AND INSIDE the stadium from Kiosks and Programme Sellers priced £5.00 and is an excellent read.  For all Celtic and Kilmarnock fans, it is a souvenir worth treasuring.
