SPFL Trust Trophy

SPFL Trust Trophy Team of Round 2

Albion Rovers striker Kyle Doherty named the star man following his four-goal show against St Mirren's B team on Saturday...

GK – Tom Ritchie (Aberdeen B)
The shot-stopper made a huge impression against Championship outfit Arbroath at Pittodrie. With the game level at 1-1 after 90 minutes, Ritchie saved two shoot-out spot-kicks to secure the young Dandies’ spot in the third round.

DEF – Max Johnston (Queen of the South)
Having joined Queens on loan from Motherwell, the 17-year-old made his debut in the 3-0 win over Broomhill on Sunday. Showing great energy and effort at both ends of the park, Johnston looked right at home in this Queen of the South side.

DEF – Tunji Akinola (Partick Thistle)
The young defender impressed once again as Thistle defeated League 2 side Stranraer 2-0 at Stair Park. Akinola’s defensive presence helped the Jags to keep a clean sheet, while he also notched his first professional goal at the other end of the park!

DEF – Aidan Quinn (Montrose)
In only his second Mo appearance of the season, the centre-back put in a dominant defensive display at home to Stirling Albion, with Montrose winning 1-0 to book their place in the next round.

DEF – Scott Mercer (East Fife)
A versatile full-back, capable of playing comfortably on either side of the back line, Mercer impressed in the Fifers’ 1-0 win at Peterhead. He put in a tremendous tackle to deny Blue Toon skipper Scott Brown a goalscoring opportunity early in the second half, ensuring it would be his side who progressed to the third round.

MID – Lewis McGrattan (Morton)
The Ton set up a trip to Montrose with a 3-1 win over Celtic B in Airdrie. McGrattan impressed on the right flank and set up Robbie Muirhead’s first-half strike with a stunning, Xavi-esque long-range pass, which caught the defence completely off guard!

MID – Stefan Scougall (Alloa Athletic)
One of the most technically gifted players in the lower leagues, Scougall shone in the Wasps’ win over Cowdenbeath. His passing, movement and vision were too much for the Blue Brazil to handle, and his (deflected) second-half free-kick wrapped up the 2-0 win.

MID – Blaise Riley-Snow (Raith Rovers)
The midfielder again caught the eye for Rovers as they beat Forfar Athletic 1-0 at Stark’s Park. Riley-Snow was the Man of the Match for the home side and got his name on the scoresheet in the 25th minute, capitalising on a parried save from Marc McCallum to fire his side into the lead.

MID – Fraser Murray (Kilmarnock)
It was another strong showing from the Killie winger. He scored twice and linked well with new signing Oli Shaw as the Ayrshire side defeated Falkirk 3-1 at Rugby Park to set up a home tie with Queen’s Park in the third round.

FWD – Billy Mckay (Inverness CT)
The Caley Thistle number 9 scored the first two goals of his third stint at the club in a 4-0 win over Highland league opponents Buckie Thistle.

FWD – Kyle Doherty (Albion Rovers)
The Star Man wasn’t going to be anyone else, was it? An incredible afternoon for the Wee Rovers’ forward, who scored four times in a 6-0 win over St Mirren B at the Reigart Stadium.
