Team of the Week

Craig Fowler from A View from the Terrace names his SPFL XI with Dundee United's Kevin Holt the Star Man...

GK - Gordon Botterill (Queen of the South)

There was derby joy for Queen of the South and manager Marvin Bartley as they defeated local rivals Annan Athletic 1-0 at Galabank to end a five-game run without a win. Botterill was a calm and confident presence in the Queens goal and helped to keep his backline resolute in the face of late pressure from the hosts.

DEF - Ben McPherson (Queen’s Park)

Friday night's cinch Championship game finished all square between Queen's Park and Airdrieonians as the pair played out an entertaining 1-1 draw. McPherson was the stand out performer for the visitors with his ability to charge forward and put pressure on fellow full-back Mason Hancock.

DEF - Lee Hamilton (Edinburgh City)

The Citizens showed signs of promise under new boss Michael McIndoe in his first game as they returned from a trip to Hamilton Accies with a 1-1 draw. Callum Crane and goalscorer Ryan Shanley were impressive for the visitors but we're going to opt for Hamilton, who shone at the back against a side who are challenging for the cinch League 1 title.

DEF - Kevin Holt (Dundee United)

A hat-trick from the defender against his former club Partick Thistle, in a comprehensive 5-0 thumping helped Jim Goodwin’s side to strengthen their position at the top of the cinch Championship table. For getting the match ball, Holt also earns Star Man status in this team.

DEF - Leon McCann (Falkirk)

The cinch League 1 leaders had to dig in but they did enough to earn a 2-1 win at Stirling Albion and open up a two-point advantage over Hamilton Accies. In a game where the Bairns had to use all their experience, McCann came into his own on the left side.

MID - Logan Chalmers (Ayr United)

Another week and another appearance in this team for the dynamic midfielder. He netted the only goal in his side’s 1-0 win at Dunfermline Athleitc and put in a fine all-round performance as he continues to enjoy a fruitful loan spell with the Honest Men.

MID - Matt O’Riley (Celtic)

The stand-out performer of the cinch Premiership season to date - the Celtic midfielder scored his sixth league goal in nine matches with a stunning volley as Brendan Rodgers' men ran out 4-1 winners over Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle.

MID - Connor McManus (East Fife)

The midfielder was one of many players to impress as the Fifers thumped visitors Stranraer with a 4-0 victory in cinch League 2. His well-dispatched finish, to round off a lovely team move, ensured the game was done and dusted before the hour mark.

MID - Abdallah Sima (Rangers)

The on-loan Brighton man seems to have hit his stride as he bagged a double as Rangers beat Hibernian 4-0 at Ibrox in Philippe Clement's debut match as 'Gers boss. It was Sima's eighth and ninth goal in all competitions this term as he gave Lewis Miller a torrid time throughout the game.

FW -  Kyle Vassell (Kilmarnock)

Killie got their first victory since August as they got the better of Livingston 3-1 at Rugby Park. The home captain found the net with two fine headers to cap a dominant display from Killie with opposition boss David Martindale claiming the Killie number 9 had bullied his team with his powerful performance.

FW - Taylor Sutherland (Bonnyrigg Rose)

The 17-year-old forward joined the Rosey Posey to gain first-team experience from Dunfermline and he showed exactly why he's highly-rated at East End Park. Sutherland scored two on his first cinch League 2 start - showing great composure to help Robbie Horn's team to a 3-2 triumph over Clyde.
