Tony Docherty named Ross County boss

Former Dundee manager replaces Don Cowie

Tony Docherty has been named the new manager of Ross County.

The former Dundee boss replaces Don Cowie at the Staggies after four games of the new league season.

Cowie departed following a 3-1 home defeat to Partick Thistle with John Robertson taking charge of County's 2-2 draw with Dunfermline Athletic on Saturday.

Staggies chief executive Steven Ferguson told the club's website: "He [Tony] brings with him not only a wealth of experience and proven leadership but also a clear alignment with our club values and long-term vision.

"His commitment to embedding himself within our club and community gives us great confidence as we work together to secure our place back in the William Hill Premiership."
