The Scottish Football League has produced a souvenir Matchday Programme for The Scottish Communities League Cup Semi-Final between Ayr United and Kilmarnock.

The Matchday Programme has extensive coverage of both Semi-Finalists including an interview with Ayr United’s Manager, Brian Reid and his assistant, Scott MacKenzie, the latter having played in a League Cup Semi-Final against Kilmarnock back in season 2000/01 when he played for St. Mirren.  In addition, there are features on Ayr ’keeper, Kevin Cuthbert, defender Chris Smith, who scored Ayr’s winning goal against St. Mirren in the last round, midfielder Michael McGowan, and strikers Mark Roberts & Michael Moffat.  Similarly, the Matchday Programme has interviews with the Kilmarnock boss, Kenny Shiels, and assistant Jimmy Nicholl, the latter who of course, managed Raith Rovers to trophy success in this competition in season 1994/95. There are also interviews with ’keeper Cammy Bell, long serving stalwart, Garry Hay, striker Paul Heffernan, who scored a hat-trick in the Third Round victory over Queen of the South, and long serving midfielder, James Fowler, and Scotland Under 21 cap, Liam Kelly.  

The Matchday Programme also has an exclusive interview with the Chairmen of both clubs, Lachlan Cameron and Michael Johnston, who look ahead to this intriguing derby encounter as well as talking about the intense rivalry between both clubs. There are also extensive player profiles on the respective squads for both Semi-Finalists and in addition, other features include an interview with the match referee, a detailed report on Ayr United’s and Kilmarnock’s “Round by Round” Road to the Semis, a look back at previous League Cup meetings between The Honest Men and Killie, a detailed feature looking back at the many players that have played with both clubs over the years as well as a number of action packed photographs.
