Dons fan wins Clydesdale Bank Score Selector prize

After 38 rounds of SPL fixtures the predictions game Score Selector from Scottish Premier League sponsor Clydesdale Bank has been won by Aberdeen fan Derek Ledingham.

Derek, whose Score Selector screen name is ‘Dekled’, racked up a record-breaking 201 points during the 2009/10 season, correctly predicting an impressive 41 exact results along the way to beat the chasing pack by seven points.

Derek, who received his winning trophy and cheque for £10,000 from Aberdeen FC’s rising star Fraser Fyvie in a special presentation at Pittodrie Stadium yesterday, said: "I’m delighted to win Score Selector and I certainly won’t have trouble finding a use for the top prize of £10,000 but I must admit it’s been a bit of a strange season for me.

"I didn’t even know I was in the running to win it until one of my friends told me at Christmas that I was top of the overall league! I had just been checking my own results and never imagined I would be in running for the overall lead!

"After finding that out, it is fair to say the second half of the season was pretty nerve-racking for me and so to finally get over the line and have the cheque in my hands is as much a relief as anything if I’m honest. I’ve been saving for a new flat for a while now so some of it will help me out with that but I’ll also use some of the prize to treat myself and my family."

Steven Hunt, Clydesdale Bank Sponsorship Manager, said: "Congratulations to all our winners and of course to Derek our newly crowned Score Selector Champion.

"To correctly predict 41 results in a highly competitive Clydesdale Bank Premier League season is an impressive achievement. We are delighted with the ever growing support Score Selector has had throughout its second year and look forward to building on this next season."
