Euro goal for Humphrey

Motherwell winger Chris Humphrey is hoping to make a dream debut for the club when they take on Flamurtari

Motherwell winger Chris Humphrey is hoping to make a dream debut for the club when they take on Flamurtari of Albania at Airdrie in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Steelmen trail 1-0 from the first leg of the second qualifying round tie but the player, who was snapped up from Shrewsbury by manager Jim Gannon, is raring to go.

He told Motherwell's official website: "To make my debut in Europe would be just unbelievable. It’s something I’ve never done before and with the fans right behind us making a lot of noise, hopefully we can make it through into the third round.

"I’ve only been here two days and already you can see the manager wants to play attacking football which for me, as a winger, is brilliant. Hopefully, the way I play can slot right into the new system and we’ll create plenty of chances and score loads of goals."

Gannon added: "Chris is very much like an old fashioned winger. He's very quick and direct and I'm hoping that with a week's training under his belt he will play a part in the second leg."
